I am from India too, and I am taking ACTFL OPI in my mother tongue Telugu on 18th this month. Your friend can try in his own language. Also, I confirmed with admissions that you can send evaluations by any NACES member, some are faster and easier than WES.

Thanks, Could you please share the link for Tamil language?

https://www.languagetesting.com/certific...nformation In the dropdown, you can type Tamil. Tamil has a single exam: the OPI for $165. It's not as cheap as InstantCert Spanish, but it's certainly easier if you already speak Tamil!

Thank you, I will share it with my friend.

First, if your friend already has a bachelor's degree, then he doesn't have to do the GEC - so no foreign language needed.

Second option - You stated your friend has 2 languages. Any chance he took one of those languages for his previous degree, and that it's on a transcript? In that case, he would have that covered.

Are GEC courses exempted for any degree or the degrees that have GEC courses? Because technical degrees in India do not have any General education courses except English and environmental science. They don't teach subjects like History, Geography, Sociology in technical degrees. They are exclusive to arts degrees.

I suggest going for the BLS and a concentration of your liking... It's best to get an evaluation and wait for them to complete the academic audit to illustrate what courses are required and missing. Make a note that you need at least 30 credits, bulk would be upper level and in the concentration/minor.

This 100% depends on the evaluation from WES. Not every international degree is recognized in the US. I would get the evaluation done so they can see what will be accepted for transfer credit.

The GEC is waived for those who have a bachelor's degree. Since your friend has an international degree it will need to be evaluated by WES to see if it would be considered a bachelor's degree in the US as all international degrees are not recognized here. They will evaluate each course completed. I would do this first so your friend can see what will be acceptable in the US. They also have to complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI so taking any classes without that evaluation may be a waste of time.
