Walden Tempo Learning Fees - Changes March 2025
#1
Walden hasn't changed their pricing much for the Tempo Learning CBE option, fees are in USD as they're an US University.  It's currently at $3K/3 months, $175 fee, so that's just $3,175 a session and if you need 6 months, that's 6K plus fees...

Here's the fees webpage, they're bumping it up to $3100/3 months and 180 fees March 2025: https://www.waldenu.edu/online-masters-p...ology#fees

This is just one example, I would guess they're changing the pricing for other Bachelors/Masters programs that are also on the Tempo Learning system.  You may want to see which degree you're looking at, the example above is for the MS Psychology degree.

Here are the programs they offer on the Tempo Learning option: https://www.waldenu.edu/flexibility/tempo-learning
Their Masters are actually going to be the same pricing except the MS in Early Childhood Studies (two concentrations to select from).
MS Criminal Justice has this under fees:  You may be able to complete your MS in Criminal Justice degree in 5 months for under $7,000.*

Awesome stuff, for readers that are planning to finish in 1 session, please don't expect to finish in 1 session of 3 months, unless you have X credits transferred and have no commitments and plenty of time. I would be on the safe side and say, 2 sessions of 6 months total, maybe 5-5.5 months if you want to give it some buffer time to be safe.

Most of the Walden Masters programs that are on the Tempo Learning system do not require a specific undergraduate degree, it just requires a Bachelors for entry, the reason is because it's already got some classes that are somewhat like bridging classes. If you've taken a few intro to psychology or similarly related classes for undergrad, you're good to go with the basic knowledge.

What happens if you need a second tempo term and finish in one month of the three month second term. Are the fees pro-rated so that the second term is only charged at 1/3 the $3100?

In short, You pay for that second session in full. Competency Based Learning systems from WGU, UMPI YourPace, Walden Tempo Learning, all the other ones on the WIKI, etc, is like a pre-paid cell phone service, you pay for everything, even though you don't use X minutes or X text a month.

You don't get refunded or pro-rated for any of those fees, it's an all-you-can eat system, you don't pay for what you don't eat. Unlike a post-paid system, you're paying for items you don't really use up, you'll be billed monthly for X or unlimited minutes/text, X gigs of data even though you don't use half of that number.

Edit to Add: In addition to the above, another example is, it's like going to McDonalds to buy a happy meal combo, you get the full combo. If you don't drink the provided drink, or eat the provided fries, you don't get a refund nor a pro-rated change. In essence, it's basically, paying for a session or term, you take as short or long you need to complete the remaining credits, you're paying the entire session even if you just need 1 class.
