bricabrac Wrote:Calculus, you will blow through them. You will need to confer with your academic advisor on the exact placement of these courses in your degree program. Beginning algebra compares to CLEP General Math 102 and for most would be a remedial course. (TESC accepts it as a gen ed.) Intermediate is MAT-115 at TESC and does meet the degree requirement for Liberal Studies. Somehow in the 6 years since high school I seem to have forgotten almost all of it...

Is there anyone with EC and ALEKS experience listing what they will and will not accept?
I currently have completed Beg. and Intermediate Algebra. I'm working on College Algebra. I hope they don't duplicate credits.

EC will accept these dependent on which degree you opt for.
You can't have more than 9 math credits for EC through aleks. They do not duplicate for liberal arts degree. EC Business degree will only accept one statistics course through aleks...not all 3 statistics courses.
Set yourself goals, not limitations

EC accepts 1 Stats course for any of their degrees at this time, and it accepts at lower level for the business degree. EC accepts 3 courses below the level of calculus, maximum. Stats is considered as being below the level of calculus. If you're planning on taking the College Math CLEP for 6 credits, that means EC will only accept 2 courses from ALEKs. For the best availble credit distribution for LA students (or one of the Majors availble under LA) at this time through EC, you end up with 12 Credits, 3 of which are upper level, consisting of:
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which) Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

I am hating ALEKS right now.
I do not recommend trying to use it on a Linux based operating system.

The tech support people are very good, I even got an experienced cust svc rep once that was able to help me out with a program glitch. Doesn't hurt to ask. "Setting a goal is not the main thing. My first solution was using internet explorer under wine, which worked during the initial assessment but broke down after that. Then I tried installing the plugin following the directions on their website. Which kind of worked, but very poorly. I finally went all out and installed Windows XP inside of Virtual Box. Now moving along just fine - 13 topics necessary to reach 70%. Should be able to complete before my trial ends on April 24th, making this worth the trouble! wb.john Wrote:Heh, I got it figured out now. Good job!! If by trial you mean the "free trial" check with cust svc...i think some here even mentioned you will not get credit for the assessment under the free trial period. Please verify so you do not waste the time and not able to collect the rewards. On second thought, does not hurt to "learn" the problems under the trial period...then pay, complete the assessment and possibly a few more for the $20 month fee. Also, hope you know you must complete 70% or better on an assessment (not build up to 70%). "Setting a goal is not the main thing. bricabrac Wrote:Good job!! I already did College Algebra in the free trial period and it's listed on my Acenet account as approved. I hope that it goes the same way with the Statistics course. I guess it wouldn't be so bad to pay $20 if needed though. |
