soupbone Wrote:I decided to fork over another twenty bucks for the Intermediate Algebra and I just finished the assessment with 80%! I'm so glad I decided to take these. I knew my Math skills were above average (I still hate Math) from my courses taken at my B&M University but it's amazing how much I remembered. I will admit I had forgotten a little more on the Intermediate Algebra but 80% isn't too bad. I now have papers all over my room that I used for scratch paper but this was certainly worth it. Now the question is should I go for PreCalc or Trig? I did alright on these classes in high school but it's been a while since I've used either of them. Thanks for all the help! I'm now 6 credits closer to my goal! hilarious
The only thing I can say about Trig is that its very short, (119 modules)
I take that back, the other thing I can say about it is ALEKS is really picky about how they want the answers given to them in the assessments.. :p

I may give Trig a shot and see where I stand. If I'm uncomfortable with it I might change to PreCalc. Here goes another $20!
I just noticed on your sig you didn't take the Beginning Algebra. Why not since it doesn't duplicate with Intermediate?

I chose Trig over PreCalc and scored a 70 on the first assessment. It was the only ALEKS course that I was able to pass on the first try. However, I'm trying Intro. to Stats now and scored a 30 on the initial assessment so I've got a long ways to go in this course.

Excelsior will only take 3 Math courses under the level of Calculus for credit. The best use of credit for this was deemed to be 2 ALEKS Courses and the College Math CLEP to get 12 credits for the 3 course slots. I'd heard that Beginning Alg is sometimes counted as a 'remedial' college course (lower then Freshman level) and in those cases, wasn't given as usable course credit for the degree by the school.
So to be safe, I just started with Int Alg, and finished up Trig after playing around in the Statistics courses.

You're not starting a new student account for each class are you? You should be able to take all the courses you can get through in the 28 day period that the $20 covers, unless you're nearing the end of the time period and its about to renew....

You may be right, but I bet you can test out of the beginning class in ten minutes and have it there just in case.
Would Excelsior take another math course for an elective? Or no credit whatsoever?

Yeah I noticed after I wrote that you were going with Excelsior.

I think I'm going to give Trig a shot in the next few minutes. I may end up trying the Intro to Stats after as well just because it can't hurt.

I just don't trust the process and I don't want take a chance and have to do these assessments all over again so yes I added myself to another student account. I just have to make sure I cancel before the next installment. I can justify $60 just to be on the safe side. hilarious
