Perfect! Now add milling wheat to flour and bread baking to the 10 yr. dd. Counts towards math, science and home ec! I mean, since your working on a plan.

Are crocks and homemade clothes a requirement? I may be in trouble, because I'm pretty sure I have an allergy (or moral aversion) to plastic shoes, and I vaguely remember flunking Home Ec. in middle school for nearly exloding the sewing machine.

I've gotta be honest, I am seriously geeking out over ordering books, videos and materials for classes. I am following here
LESSON PLANS for History I & II so we can do the CLEP tests next summer or sooner. We are about to start working on Here's to Your Health following the lesson plan from there as well. We also picked up the English Comp materials from there but I am not sure if we will attempt that this year for my freshman. He is very bright but I think we may spend this year laying a strong foundation of writing and grammar. Can anyone suggest more study guides/books for government, computers, psychology or others? We will be following mostly CLEP tracks.

I am following here My humble suggestion is to go with what you just said- lay a strong foundation in writing, but let me add READING. Getting your child reading long-hard-literature is very important. I think you'll find that the only difference between any of the subjects a kid reads in high school vs college is the level of reading. So, think about the Analyzing and Interpreting Lit questions. Reading like that- they need stamina for long and complected sentences that run on and on. If your family reads the bible, use the King James version, etc. I've got several reading lists we use, but there are tons online too, and I would say just to focus on reading above all other subjects first. Doing them in this order makes them much more competent at reading college texts and studying other subjects like psychology, govt, etc. This is our reading list (I modify a bit, and would never get through it) but just notice the reading level even at level 2-3. It's much more challenging than the books that are popular now. The Arthur Scott Bailey books are my favorite but I'm a school nerd. Robinson Booklist | Links to All Things Free for Homeschoolers

Awesome! I appreciate the input.
We are looking at bookadventure for my 6th and 7th grader. I like the fact that there is a list they can pick from, take a test and get points. All of my kids are very competitive athletes and performers, so they are competing for points and prizes. It is funny, I feel most confident with the high school curriculum vs. the younger ages because it seems like it wasn't too long ago that I was reading and taking cleps.

Also, we need some computer curriculum of some sort. I'd like the kids to get familiar with Word and comupters in general.

When I used it for testing, it was very rudimentary, but now it's AWESOME. Besides being free (my favorite price) it tracks the student and has assignments, etc. If you go in and click "math" you'll see a very linear and sequential approach step by step. So, you watch the video(s) and then they give you practice questions. It's set up on an algorithm to predict when your child's likelihood of getting the next question right is a certain %, then they have mastery and you get a solidly filled circle (mastery) and you move on to the next material. Love love love it. It's not grade based, it's subject based. In addition, there are new subjects being added all the time. We actually switched from loyal ALEKS users to only Khan. I'll be going Khan--> CLEP/DSST instead of ALEKS from here on out. Also, here is a great little computer based (also free) complete curriculum that I found last year. We use it in bits and pieces, but you might find it contains almost everything you need.
