Did you start with biology knowledge?

Very little. I had a high school bio course from a decade prior that I didn't retain much from. Plus it hardly touched on the same material

It all depends on how much you understand already, how good you are at learning new material and the score you need to pass. 15 days ago, I took the practice test from the Clep official study guide. I got 34/80 correct on it. I had some decent knowledge on the ecology and alleles(punnet square aspects). I then decided to start studying for it 2 days ago. I used the REA biology. I really focused on the bases for DNA and RNA, Mitosis, Meiosis, Classification, different energy processes, difference between prokaryote and eukaryote, functions of animal cells, functions of plant cells, and plant anatomy (specifically for how they get nutrients and reproduce). I took the test today and got a 53(which 50 was what I needed to pass) on it after less than 48 hours of actually studying. On my practice tests I scored between 59% on Free-Clep-Prep and a Peterson test I came across to 61% - 64% on the 2 REA practice tests. If the score you need is a 50, getting 60+% on the practice tests is a good sign you are ready. Just be careful, there's not as many practice tests for biology as other tests. You will not accurately gauge yourself by taking the same one twice.
