How is the UMPI experience?
#1
I'm three courses away from finishing general credits at Sophia. I will then move on to do 5 more courses at Study.com and Instant-cert. I am curious to know how intense the UMPI online courses are since they are at university level. I like to use the search key words on the pdf files when testing at Sophia because it really helps to quickly find words to answer questions. What are so advantages and disadvantages taking courses at UMPI. I am pursuing the BABA degree. Thanks for the support!

I wouldn't worry about InstantCert as they have lost some of their ACE courses and they are leaving ACE in the near future. Spanish you can complete on Sophia. I would complete as many of the courses on Sophia that transfer to UMPI as possible especially the GEC classes. Doesn't look like you've taken any math and you need math at UMPI.

UMPI is planning to move to a different platform in January so we don't know what will changes will be made yet. Currently, the courses do not contain PDFs for the course content. All of the course content is on the learning platform.

As far as intensity, some classes are harder than others. What I struggled with at UMPI, you may find to be a breeze. I didn't find any disadvantages. I've done butts in the seats and online courses at numerous colleges and found UMPI to be some of the easiest to navigate. The assignments for the most are pretty simple considering you only have 1 assignment and you've not reading an entire textbook like you would in a regular college course. No deadlines except the final day for submissions. You get a rough draft submission for papers and projects so you get to work on it with feedback from the professor which is really nice.

Thanks for your reply! I understand Instant-cert will change in the future. I am considering taking Intro to Bio and organization behavior at Study.com. Over at Instant-cert i want to take managerial accounting, American government but i don't want to take Spanish. i would rather take a Chinese Mandarin class if they have it there. Is it worth still taking classes at Instant-cert? I think there shouldn't be a problem. I am moving pretty fast and will be working on those Instant-cent courses very soon.
I will take Math at UMPI.

Don't take intro to bio. You need Take Biology101L Intro to Biology with Lab. That lab is a requirement at UMPI. American Government is already gone on InstantCert. Where do you want to take Mandarin Chinese from? You can take the math on Sophia unless it's Math for Business. Sophia's math courses are pretty easy compared to colleges.

Yes my mistake i want to take Biology101L Intro to Biology with Lab and Bus 307 Organizational Behavior at Study.com. I think Sophia has an American government course but i don't know if they take that transfer over to UMPI. I want to take a language course but i don't like Spanish. I don't know where i can take a Mandarin Course. I searched Instant-cert courses but cant find any Chinese courses. Yes the only math class ill be taking will be Math for Business.

Sophia doesn't have American Government. It's a super easy class to complete at UMPI so I wouldn't worry about taking it elsewhere. It's an easy A and whose GPA can't use an easy A?

Chinese is probably one of the languages you can test out of if you already know it. If you want to learn it, that's going to take some effort. Spanish 1 on Sophia can be completed quickly and it transfers to UMPI. If you do find somewhere to take Chinese, you need to make sure it will transfer to UMPI. We know Spanish 1 from Sophia transfers to UMPI.

Business Ethics is worth taking at Instantcert, it covered BUS 353 last time i checked. And Intro to Marketing cover BUS 330. They are ACE recommended until 2023. Entrepreneurship and Managerial Accounting also comes in as Upper level, at least before they did...

A super easy class sounds good to start with at UMPI am i right? It would help to grab a feel on how the system works while taking an easy class.

If it's troubling to find any other language classes ill then take Spanish at Sophia.

By the way, when is a good time to collect my sophia transcripts? is it a good idea to get my transcripts when i finish all courses at sophia or will it be better to wait until i am ready to apply at UMPI?

You need to send your transcripts to UMPI when you apply. You don't have to be done with all of your courses. You can send a second transcript once you finish your courses. If you want to start in January I would apply now as it takes a few weeks for the U of M system to process applications and it takes a few weeks for UMPI to process transcripts. If you don't hear anything after a few weeks then I would reach out to YourPace admissions.
