It's not as though I'm claiming public schools are perfect. I had my fair share of poor teachers and unpleasant social experiences. But that's life. The bad and the good are often inseparable.
I went to public school until high school. I went to a Catholic high school.
I wouldn't know my best friend of 15 years if I didn't go to school. I played 4 years of 3 sports in high school and loved every minute of that. I got college credit from the IB program.
I have a great relationship with my siblings. And my parents were able to continue their own educations and further their careers during the same time frame.
I think it is what you make of it.

It's odd that someone as old as your mother was taught that "homosexuality is positive" and experienced all of the other things you said, but this is not how most public schools operate. My sister graduated from high school 4 years ago and never experienced the things you said.

Yeah, you have to keep in mind that Westerner is counting a reduction in discrimination as a negative.

No one "teaches" homosexuality. And my Catholic high school had religious education and accurate science.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I am guessing that maybe your public schools are better because you live in Texas. I suppose this would be the least likely state where these messages would be taught.
