Jen, tell more about the goat farm! I admit weighed against Call of Duty its a toss up, but goats....who doesn't want goats? Milk, cheese, meat....yum!
LOL, well.... I think back in the day, when I was easily influenced by everything I read about homeschooling (and I tried to read everything) I most enjoyed a book by the Colfax family - can't remember the exact title. But they were a homestead family and one of her kids raised goats. It got him into Harvard. Now, ask me why I remember THAT instead of what I had for dinner last night? Who knows lol.
I no longer buy "all the homeschool stuff" peddled to homeschool families, and instead try and look at it on its own merits. For instance, (and this is a lame example, but you'll get it) let's say it's Valentine's Day and you want to buy a bag of Hershey's Kisses. So, you have the option of buying a regular bag, or the "Valentine's Day" bag of red-white-pink. You notice the colored once cost more, but since they are "for" Valentine's Day, you choose them. That's how homeschool resources (and teacher supply resources) are. They are packaged "for" homeschooling. Now, at the end of the day, flash cards are flashcards. In most cases, you probably don't need to purchase specialty stuff. Don't get me wrong, I've given them plenty of my money over the years. But, just kinda keep it in the back of your mind. Sometimes all the "stuff" can lead you down the rabbit hole. You really only need pencil, paper, and a few books.
