Quote:The credit by examination option is not available for the following prerequisite courses:
  • Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab
  • Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab
  • Chemistry
  • Microbiology with Lab
  • Statistics

These must be taken as classes and have grades from regionally accredited institutions.

(Emphasis mine.) This means that these courses CANNOT be fulfilled by Sophia. So taking Stats and Chemistry at Sophia is pointless.

Portage has both Anatomy & Physiology courses ($892 each), Microbiology w/ lab ($892), and Statistics ($669). https://portagelearning.com/courses/biology

Portage also has Chemistry, but it comes with a lab that you don't need. Take Chemistry at TEL Learning instead for $200. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/TEL_Learning

You can't use financial aid at Portage (it's not a school).  Why pay for these out of pocket if you can take them at a college for free??

Go to an RA school to get these credits!!!

As far as I'm aware, both Portage and TEL are 100% self-paced. No deadlines. Except that you need to be done with the class within 6-12 months of purchase.

These are things that you cannot get from a standard school. If you get financial aid to pay for NMJC or similar but you wind up having to put the baby in daycare to do the schoolwork, it'll cost more out of pocket than just doing Portage/TEL on your own timeline.

@maebak2skl, Welcome to the board, you can always go for the Pierpont BOG AAS with an emphasis in a Health related discipline or something different. Since you're going that route, when you ladder into the TESU BSNA (Accelerated Nursing) option, the required science courses will give you an extra ASNSM Biology. The requirements 'can' be the same as the AAS Health Studies pathway, except there is no need for a capstone. It really depends how you want to play your cards and what you need/want...
