Hi, this is my first post, so hopefully I am including all the information that is needed. I am a homeschooling mom that is helping my kids get their degrees. One of my sons (age 22) has gotten a ways down the path and I am trying to figure out the next classes for him to take to finish his bachelor of science in business. He has quite a bit of NA credit from New Charter, so I have narrowed it down to Excelsior because they are one of the few that accept that. A few months ago (June 2022),we sent in his transcripts to EU and they did a breakdown of how it all comes in. Because of the upcoming policy in February where they charge $300 to do an extra evaluation, I am hoping to make sure that he can get all the classes picked correctly and then transfer it in one shot. Here's what he's got:
New Charter University (now Bottega)
CM 365 Developing Critical Thinking Skills
BA 201 Introduction to Business
CS 110 Introduction to Computers
PF 101 Professionalism
GS 150 General Biology
HI 171 World Civilization I
PS 150 American Government
EN 221 American Literature
BA 351 Principles of Management
BA 400 Principles of Marketing
MA 125 College Algebra
BA 271 Macroeconomics
BA 272 Microeconomics
BA 420 Business Law
Brigham Young University
REL A 211 The New Testament
SPAN 321 3rd Yr Span Read, Gram, & Cult
WRTG 150 Writing and Rhetoric
FDREL 122 The Book of Mormon
STUDEV 150 Public Speaking
In process
CSM Learn
This puts him at a total of 55 credits completed (58 when CSM is done), because the two religion classes are only 2 credits instead of 3. Here are my basic questions:
1) He speaks fluent Spanish, so would taking a Spanish CLEP for a possible 6-9 credits be a good idea? Would that double up on the Spanish 321 that he already took?
2) How does CSM Learn come in at EU? Does that check the box for the Business Data Analysis requirement (formerly Quantitative Analysis), or is it just considered an elective?
3) He also took a Composition II class from NCU that is not listed above because they are requesting a copy of the syllabus to see if it will count as the other written English requirement. Is that likely that it will work for that? This analysis was done back in June, and I thought that I heard something about them changing their policy to require Business Writing.
4) I thought that I remember hearing that a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business at EU was possibly more flexible/better than just the regular business degree. Is there an advantage to that, or should he just stick to the BSB degree?
5) And most importantly, what are the rest of the classes that he needs to fill the remaining requirements (especially the upper level business), and where is the best places to take them? I know that he would probably do well with Study (and the feature that helps you not repeat lessons in different courses), but if there are some better/cheaper ways to do this, that would be great to know.
Thanks in advance for any and all help with this! I have attached the evaluation that EU did to show how they are bringing it in.
