Help with degree path please and thank you
#1
Hi, I’ve been searching the forums for a couple of weeks and I’m not sure there is any way for me to chart a degree course because I have no idea how all of my dental assisting credits will be used, or if the AAS would satisfy gen ed anywhere.
I’m most interested in a BLS and I am trying for the 1. Quickest and 2. Easiest in that order of priority.
Thank you for any help anyone can provide

Any certifications or military experience?:
Dental Assisting Certification
Budget: as low as possible BUT willing to pay more for ease and speed
Commitments: currently job hunting
Dedicated time to study: I have tons of time
Timeline: as quick as possible
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: none

Additional Information: Im looking for a career change; recently out of a job and using this time to work on my bachelor’s degree. I have an interest in elementary education. In my state any bachelor’s degree comes with a route to teaching so I don’t necessarily want to limit my degree to education. Honestly, I just want to try to obtain the quickest (and easiest) bachelor's degree that I can.

Fast and easy are my top priorities. I’m ok at testing but do hate proctored exams (as most do); so other kinds of assessments might be better.

Welcome to the board, great intro post to get the ball rolling. What's a BSL that you're referring to? BS in Learning, Leadership or do you mean a BLS (Liberal Studies)? You have an AAS, in what from Pierpont, Business or IT? Actually, it doesn't really matter, you can always add credits to the AAS. Your very first option should be the UMPI BAS with a minor of your choice, Educational Studies minor. Here are the other options for the BAS, for people with the AAS link: https://www.umpi.edu/yourpace/academic_p...d-science/
Study.com Offer https://bit.ly/3RTJ3I9

Pre-Med Online, MSc Biomedical Sciences (Starting Jan 2026)
In Progress: UoPeople BS Health Science

Completed: UMPI BAS & MAOL (2025)
TESU ASNSM Biology, BSBA (ACBSP Accredited 2017)

Thank you. My apologies, I meant BLS and have edited that. My AAS from Pierpont is just their Board of Governors AAS; there was no specialty that I recall. I will check out the BAS option you attached. Would I apply to the Your Pace program right away? or do i complete more Sophia courses first? thank you again

For starters, it doesn't matter, UMPI application deadline for Summer 1 is 04/13/26. If you still have a valid Sophia.org subscription, then I would continue gathering enough transfer credits to hit the 90+, even though max they accept is 90 towards the degree. You'll then just do the 30 remaining residency credits at UMPI to complete the degree requirements for the BAS.

Basically, BAS and BLS is very similar in requirements, but the BAS is a bit more flexible with requirements, thus, technically, cheaper easier, faster to complete. If you don't have Sophia.org, you may want to renew or try Study.com to max those 90+ credits for general education and electives, the major/minor plus remaining credits (30 or so) should be done at UMPI.
