What Masters program are you looking at? I'm curious where the competative MSN's are. I met a brand new PA a few days ago who told me she got into University of Florida's program with a 3.2gpa, I couldn't find anything else remarkable about her....cute maybe....but nothing the admissions office might have looked at. UF is a very competative program, there are only public state PA programs in Florida....if a 3.2 will get you in there....

I am not sure about PA programs so I can't comment on that. Maybe she plays dumb so men won't be intimidated by her. I've done that before The upper level nursing classes are at every program I have looked at as they replace the nursing knowledge you "missed" by not pursuing a BSN. They are bridge courses and all of the programs I have researched have them. Hope that makes sense. Its been a long day with the toddler.

You transfer in: Everything from your University except Racquetball. CO doesn't generally accept physical education activity courses. Everything from Excelsior.

29 + 41 = 70 sh.

Your requirements are:

Concentration in Health Studies

To what you're transfering in, add:
3 sh {Public Health Policy} You should have good options here from COSC and elsewhere.
3 sh UL ECE Research Methods in Psychology
3 sh UL COSC HLT 499 Health Studies Capstone

If your Abnormal Psychology isn't UL and none of your nursing credits are UL, you might need 3 sh new UL content within the concentration, on top of what you have already that's UL, to meet the minimum of 12 sh UL within the concentration. That could be the Public Health Policy course.

Basic Cornerstone and Credit Hour Total Requirements, for a Bachelor of Science

Add:
3 sh COSC IDS 101 Cornerstone Seminar

In total, you'll need 120 sh. You've transfered in 70 sh, and there are at least 12 sh new above. That leaves 38 sh you'll need elsewhere.

In total, you'll need 60 sh in Liberal Arts. I count 47 sh in what you're transfering in, plus at least 3 sh above in Research Methods in Psychology. You'll need 10 sh more elsewhere.

In total, you'll need 30 sh upper level. I don't see this stated on that link above, but it's required. You'll have at least 12 sh UL above within the Health Studies concentration plus, outside the concentration from credits transfered in, 3 sh Organizational Behavior and 3 sh Psychology of Adulthood & Aging. So you'll need 12 more sh UL elsewhere.

COSC does gen ed requirements in a different way than EC and TESC. If you take a hypothetical 3 sh course on Ethics in U.S. Foreign Relations Today, BOOM: that will likely meet your gen ed requirements in Ethical Decision-Making, U.S. History/Government, Non-U.S. History/Culture, and Global Understanding in one fell swoop. You don't have to earn 3 sh in the one, then 3 sh in the next, etc. Also, a course can both be in your concentration and meet a gen ed requirement.

Will be honest I am confused but not because of you. Nursing degrees are so specific that I am having to learn how to translate reqs into actual classes. Will research COSC. Haven't taken abn psych but it is a 3 ch UL test at EC that should't be hard I test well. My 7 nursing courses listed above are all LL so not sure how that changes things. Thanks for the input.

So to partially clarify I will need 50 hours in addition to what I already have. How many of those do you think I can test out of ? I know capstones/cornerstones have to be taken at the college. Will start digging around their site and writing up a plan. I just don't wan't to waste any time/money because I don't understand the system as well as some of you guys. Thanks.

Oh! My bad, sorry, reading in that you'd taken Abnormal Psychology.

I did count all your nursing courses as LL.

At COSC, all degree-seeking students have to take the cornerstone seminar, and all students seeking bachelor's degrees have to take the capstone course in their concentration. For this Health Studies concentration, you have the "Public Health Policy" requirement that you could meet through one course from Charter Oak or elsewhere. Aside from those three courses, everything else you can test out of or transfer in.

What results in graded credit at Charter Oak? All ECEs, UExcels, and the DSSTs with scores in two digits, not three. All Charter Oak regular courses, and individualized Contract Learning courses, but not Prior Learning Assessments. All RA transfer credit that comes in graded. I think there's a way to decline some transferred credit at the very start; those grades wouldn't appear but neither would the credit. I believe Straighterline courses transferred in on Straighterline transcripts are graded. CLEPs are not graded. I don't know about Penn Foster courses with ACE recommendations.

OK did some planning on the site and it makes a LOT more sense. found exams for all of my requirements except Health promotion/disease prevention. Any ideas ?

Since this seems to be ignored here, I just want to point out that when I applied to graduate school, they looked at the last 60 graded credits. My ungraded CLEPs, DSSTs, etc did not count in the last 60 credits. If the MSN programs you're applying to are the same, you're going to need 60 new graded credits or they will start looking all the way back to your RN courses to calculate your GPA. Does anyone have a chart for how COSC and ECE grade DSSTs? Sorry, but one really does not have much control over making As on ECEs and DSSTs. One needs to be realistic and prepared for making Bs and Cs.
