English Lit CLEP cancelled .... more time to study.
#1
My English Lit test was scheduled for 4:00pm today. When I got to the testing center they first told me the lady who runs the exam called out sick. Then they tell me that the CLEP server was down and that I have to come back another day. After having test anxiety for an hour waiting that was not fun to hear.

Anyway...

I now have more time to study as I can either take tomorrow morning or some time next week. I was wondering if anyone else would have anymore advice for me? I have reviewed all the feedback on the forum and studied everything they said that could be on the test. I called Excelsior today to see what my A&I Clep score was because I could not remember and it was a 62 - I tool that test months ago cold. I feel like the A&I lit section on the practice exams for English Lit is a little harder, but probably because it is English Lit like Beowulf and harder to read - but overall I am still pretty decent at that part. I feel pretty comfortable with literary terms and poetry forms as well. The thing that I just CANNOT grasp for some reason is the author and matching them to there works. MY MAIN QUESTION IS ... are the CLEP questions more like the Peterson Practice tests (harder) as in "4 to 15 lines of literature" - then a question "Who wrote this?" or is the CLEP easier and more like...Who wrote the Canterbury tales? If they are the latter than I got it, but I CANNOT read a piece of literature that could be just a very small % of the whole text and be able to tell who the heck wrote it!!! That seems crazy for them to expect that, but that is just my opinion.

I guess I am just trying to get a feel of the format of the questions on the CLEP when it comes to the matching the author to its works section. If it is simply a few lines of literature and I am supposed to know who wrote it - then I am in trouble and have way more work to do. If it is more straightforward and easier than the Petersons tests then I may be able to get by with a 50 since I am comfortable with the other parts of the exam. Can someone please help me with the format of these questions and the level of difficulty they are asked in? Will knowing the author and the title of the work and being able to match them be enough?

Thanks so much to anyone who can give me some detail on this so I know what I am getting myself into.

There will be some Qs that give a few lines and ask you to ID the author, but they'll give a big hint in the passage—it won't be just some random lines. If it's the Canterbury Tales, there'll be some hint, like about some well-known character, in the passage, or it'll be the first few famous lines. Also, they could describe a plot and ask you to match it to the correct work.
