I have taken ASU classes, yes. Their Algebra class uses ALEKS to teach. It's pretty good and more thorough than other classes, while not being difficult.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Once you have a bachelor's degree, an associate degree really doesn't serve much purpose. I'd move onto to UMPI like you were talking about and don't waste the time on completing an associate degree. An associate degree isn't going to help on most job applications unfortunately. I have a lot of experience with this as I only had 2 associate degrees for many years and it impacted my ability to land new jobs.

A $1200 1-yr to finish AAS is really not worth it when you can do a term at UMPI for about the same price in 8 weeks (and you could take those 4 courses and transfer them back to your CC if you wanted). It would prob cost you very little to get a Pierpont AAS instead.
But if you're set on the AAS at your school and want to do CLEP exams, you could do College Algebra, American Government, Intro to Soc, and US History I or II, or Western Civ I or II. All CLEP-prep can be done via ModernStates.org, and then they give you free vouchers to take the exams, and reimburse you for testing fees if there are any. You can get them sent straight to your school for free.

Transferring credits back to their CC after transferring to a 4 year school is something that very few students are aware of. I think it's more useful for transfer students who have dropped out, and wish to salvage at least an associate's degree, since if you're on your way to a bachelor's there's not much reason to bother with a 2yr degree. However, you could likely use it, in the way @dfrecore describes, to get your AAS from your current school without spending any more time or money there.
