Would someone be able to shed light on this situation… I failed my final by one point, the Professor gave me a 2nd attempt and I scored a 96%. What would be my final grade? Do you average the score or give you the higher score? Trying to figure out the impacts, if any, to my GPA.

You should ask the professor what your grade will be. We don't know what they will do.

UMPI policy is the highest score will be kept.
All people are allowed 1 retake across all of UMPI to get rid of a failing grade. UMPI did some research long ago and found that most students when they don't pass a class they quit there, so they offer retakes to keep graduation rates high.
