Georgia Military College

sanantone Wrote:For a junior college, it is a rip off. Even in-state students are paying that rate. I don't know of many community colleges that charge $200 per credit hour. That's what small state colleges/universities charge.
Once again, I don't think 199 is all that bad.

What we are losing sight of is that the OP, was offering info for anyone interested. The appropriate course of action would have been to check it out, perhaps offer similar options also and maybe say thank you for offering solutions after the OP has clearly graduated already and has no personal gain.

Instead we crap all over this guy/gals thread and make a blanket claim that most four year colleges are cheaper, when I actually find that quite rare these days. Trust me, its difficult trying to find schools (besides for profits offering military rates) that offer credit hours for less than $250 these days.

looking at rates of the first three GA universities I looked up I saw the univ of ga is $268 for ug, albany state is aprrox 200 full time, kennesaw state is $448 all of these were resident rates. I stopped there, but the trend seemed to rebut your opinion. Heck, your alma mater was about 1000 for 3 credits.

There may be reasons why someone may want to select this school over, say Clovis or BYU or straighterline or Clep, maybe they have transfer agreements that will run smoother, maybe they like the format etc. Yes there are cheaper options, it may not be the best, we on this forum know that.

Pub, sorry to hijack your thread, thanks for passing info on another option.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Where did I say that? Nowhere because I didn't. How does "that's what small state colleges/universities charge" turn into "most four year colleges are cheaper?" Those two statements aren't even close to having the same meaning. You rebutted an imaginary claim.

If you're talking about Angelo State University, the undergraduate tuition rate for residents is about $249. That's not even close to $1,000 for a 3-credit course. Why would you compare graduate tuition to a 2-year college's tuition? I'm assuming that you're not looking at the fact that ASU has a system where the more credits you take the cheaper the tuition gets. That's how many colleges operate.

I'm not criticizing publius2k4's information. This is a discussion forum, so I'm discussing the expense of this college. It is not above scrutiny. There is no need to offer similar options. They've already been mentioned several times.

I was given UL credit for my DLI courses even though I was told since they are technically a two-year college I wouldn't receive UL credit. Maybe DLI is the only exception.

They appear to be from the DLI transcript because they have grades that match my DLI transcript. The ACE transcript didn't have letter grades. The ACE transcript is generated for passing the DLPT.

Probably an exception. I asked the registrar about them at the same time I told them they gave me credit for exam topics I did not test on to obtain my certified paralegal credential. They took away Criminal Law, Business Organizations, and Contract Law because I didn't test in those areas. I'm waiting for them to evaluate Family Law, Real Estate, and Civil Litigation which are the areas I did test in. They fixed their mistakes quickly but told me the UL credit from DLI was accurate.

I thought this was interesting. I found a document with all of the tuition rates for all of the public colleges/universities in the University System of Georgia, but I don't think they include all of the fees, especially distance learning fees.

Never mind. I found the fees.

And the e-tuition rates.

This is interesting information. However, Georgia Military College is not part of the University System of Georgia. They're independent.

I know, but I thought it would be a good document to use to compare most of the public schools in Georgia.
