I just took the English Composition w/ essay. I have scheduled the Freshman College Composition, and I read here in the forum that there is an essay. Is this optional, and if it is, should I take it?
Thanks.

The essay is optional. Most people take the essay if their school requires a writing sample.
However, from my understanding, most students take either English Comp OR Freshman Comp, instead of both. I guess this is because they both fill the same requirements. Just thought I'd share that.

I heard from some friends that if you take the essay with the Freshman English Composition CLEP you don't have to do some types of questions. Does anybody know if that is accurate? If it is what questions don't you get?

The hard ones, I hope.
I took the English Composition with Essay (which is of course different that Freshman Comp), and fully believe that the essay version was probably the best to take, even if its evaluation isn't as cut-and-dry as a fully multiple choice test. You'll be safer taking it than the other version, most likely.
