Free for Texans, $1000 for Non-Texans 6-hour class bundle at East Texas A&M
#1
Wink
Important update to this post: This offer now appears to be free only for Texas residents as determined per in-state tuition rules. Out-of-state students appear to be charged $1,000 for the two-course bundle. For the most recent updates, see the most recent pages of this thread.

"Take advantage of two free competency-based graduate courses designed to help you master key skills at your own pace. Begin by choosing one of three exciting bundles based on your career goals." (These classes award graduate-level credit hours)"

These classes are not currently part of any degree program at East Texas A&M University...yet. So, you may be able to use them as an elective somewhere or even at ET A&M if the program you are in will allow it. Who knows what new programs are comign down the pike...

To take advantage of these classes, you can use the Quick App to apply without a fee. (this link is also on the website if you would rather not click it here for security purposes)

-- these are online courses, so new international students would likely not be able to do these unless here on a resident visa or something like that.

Classes start on Jan 13! Give yourself enough time to become admitted.

I don't think this will be available next year, but you never know.

@LuckyLion44

What graduate programs or degrees would these courses apply towards?

Are there plans for any new graduate programs in the Innovation and Design College?

Are there any plans to make a Masters degree with pricing similar to the CBE programs offered at ETAM?

Completed:
TAMUC BAAS Org Leadership
SJC AAS Automotive Technology

At the moment, they don't apply to any current degrees offered at ETAMU. That is likely why they are free. These look like great classes though -- sought after fields/knowledge for sure.

Each school and program will have different requirements for what they accept for transfer credit in their majors but these classes look like they would transfer into various programs like instructional design, curriculum and instruction, maybe public health or safety, business programs, etc. At the bare minimum they could be used in an elective area for lots of degrees or get you to the required hours needed to graduate somewhere.

That being said, if the university is offering several new courses, in the College of Innovation and Design like these, and they are recruiting students to take them but offering them for free -- then chances are there is a new program or programs coming that these might apply towards directly (you never know -- no guarantees). They just can't say it yet if it isn't official. They could be gauging interest in the bundle areas as well. Its a pretty good deal though -- 2 free classes -- 6 hours. That's 10% of a standard masters degree. Its limited risk for the reward -- just time spent. No application fee, no cost classes, 6 hours. Also, I could be mistaken but it looks like those classes are only a month long (based on their schedule of classes). So, I wonder if more will be available later.

"Six semester hours graduate study, Instructional Design [etc.], East Texas A&M University" is also a perfectly valid entry on your résumé or CV even if it's not part of a certificate or degree.

I am indeed tempted, one of the 3 packages has interesting courses that aren’t available in many schools.
