Thanks for all the input. I have until the 23rd in this billing cycle, after which I don't intend to renew, so I'm gonna see if I can work through the course on Study.com, and if it turns out I need more time, I'll chalk the lessons up to studying for the UMPI class.

Oh, if you do have up to the 23rd of this month, then yes... Stay with Study.com and complete a few lessons a day, these are only 5-8 minutes each lesson, try racking up the lessons and getting it done by the subscription end date. I would give a day or two as buffer and take the final when you're "hot and on fire!" with re-immersing in the language...

I began this class on Study.com, but after about five lessons realized I didn't remember enough Spanish to continue, so I went through all of Spanish I (without doing assignments or exam), and then continued Spanish II. After going through about 250 lessons (Spanish I and II), I finally finished. Only got 58% on proctored exam, but could have passed with 30%. I also had to pay for an extra month, unfortunately, and have no use for the second proctored exam, since I have exactly ten classes to complete at UMPI. Glad it's behind me before the session begins next week -- I really didn't want to eat up a bunch of time doing it through UMPI, since I knew it would take me longer than any of the other classes I need -- but not sure I'd do it this way again. Haven't decided if I'm gonna take a class for fun, or take a one-week break and let the extra proctored exam go.

InstantCert Spanish 1 is less work than Study.com's course. No speaking at InstantCert or writing.

I assume you're doing History at UMPI? If so, maybe an extra LL elective? History 106: The Civil War and Reconstruction and History 108: History of the Vietnam War are just quizzes and the final exam, no assignments.

I am indeed doing History. I took History 108 and 308 already (and enjoyed them). I haven't done 106 and was considering it, but I plan to take History 454: Slavery in the United States at UMPI, and I assume that also covers reconstruction. As it stands, I have nine classes I need for degree requirements, and one bonus class I need for the residency requirement. I could do Humanities 201 to transfer in as Humanities 103, and fulfill my last GE requirement, but then I'd still have to add a tenth class, so I'm not sure there's much point.

If I can find something related to public administration or public health, even if it's a business class only tenuously related, I might do that.

Health 101: Principles of Health has an equivalency to UMPI's Introduction to Public Health (Health 101).

You might also be interested in Health 307: Healthcare Delivery Systems (which is Health 301: Health Care Delivery Systems at UMPI).

I wonder if the ICC Spanish course prepares you for Study.com's Spanish II course, or if the Study.com Spanish I is a better option there?  I realize ICC is better if you only need 1 course, but not sure what the best option is if you need 2 courses.

I would suspect that, if you need both, the InstantCert course will help but may not fully prepare you in the same way that taking both courses at SDC would. In theory, Spanish I should cover roughly the same things no matter where you take it. In practice, one will always cover slightly more than the other. I can't say which one might cover more or less in this instance. Also, since Spanish II at SDC requires speaking and writing, it's probably best to get used to that in the slightly easier Spanish I at SDC vs. InstantCert's course.

Hard to say. I did all the Spanish I lessons at SDC as a refresher before moving on, as I said above, and thought the classes flowed well into one another (and Spanish I quizzes covered ten of the 104 Spanish II lessons), but I suspect any Spanish class that covered the absolute basics thoroughly would prepare one for Spanish II on SDC. Spanish I on SDC is pretty long, at almost 150 lessons/quizzes, but it's repetitive in a way that really helps hammer the basics, and a good amount of vocabulary, home, if you need that (I did).
