Hello everyone! I will post an update as well as some questions I have. I am almost halfway done! I have changed my strategy a bit as I am no longer doing CLEPs. The testing center nearest to me closed down and I actually enjoy completing courses so much more than testing out in exams. I use mainly StraighterLine and then I use Study for upper level courses and anything StraighterLine doesn’t offer. I am no longer worried about the cost of the degree and I have shifted my focus to simplifying the process. (For example, I don’t want to complete a Study course to then turn around and try to test out via Saylor just to save money. I want to save effort and time.)

I designed my degree plan back in April so I feel out of touch with all the little rules that make up degree planning. (I casually skim the forum weekly for accreditation news.) I recently had to redesign it to replace CLEPs so could one of you generous users double check my work? (I tried going off beautiful spreadsheets provided by dfrecore and bjcheung77.) I don’t know what I would do without this forum. I also have a couple of questions if you guys could help me out.

(Question #1) Can I do different sciences from StraighterLine to fulfill the D. Understanding the Physical & Natural World section of the degree plan? I would prefer courses like Introduction to Nutrition or Introduction to Environmental Science.

(Question #2) I know most will not support doing a double concentration but could you help me out pick my marketing area of study courses using Study? I am confused about upper level requirements. Do I need 12 upper level credits in both areas of study? (If you must know my reasoning, I’m young and I don’t want to look back and wish I spent the extra $500 and a couple of months doing a second concentration in marketing just because I was impatient and cheap. If I am able, I want to do both.)

(Question #3) Am I missing any opportunities to do more StraighterLine? (Other than upper level.) I enjoy the price and the amount of time it takes to complete a course from StraighterLine.

I am sorry that my spreadsheet is hard to view dfrecore. I simplified it, made the font size bigger, and uploaded four different files of it. If this does not work I will post the direct link to the spreadsheet on Google Sheets so hopefully you will be able to see. I hope the issue is fixed.

Thank you! Smile

1) You can do 2 different sciences, or even computer science courses (or mix-and-match).

2) First, most people here aren't against 2 AOS's in the BSBA, some of us are against a concentration like Marketing or Accounting AND General Management.  GM is generic, the others aren't.  So if you wanted to get Marketing, that would be better than Marketing and GM.  At that point, GM would be kind of pointless.  You need 12cr of UL in each AOS, and if you do a GM, then you should do Acct/Fin/Mar, and save all of your Mar courses for the MAR AOS.
----------------------------------------
EDIT:

3) Looking at your upload, you missed the point of GM. GM is a combination of everything. You have to take courses in 3 out of the 4 areas. NOW, if General Management was what you are proposing (all management courses), it might actually be useful. But, it's not that.

Also, your last spreadsheet had different courses checked off, so now I can't tell what you've completed, and what you need to complete. Kind of confusing. I usually distinguish between the 2 more clearly (I don't want to go through and suggest other courses, only to be told that you've already taken something). Like, if you've already taken something, leave it unhighlighted/uncolored, or vice-versa (colored); put the number of credits already earned where you've taken courses; etc.

This is the first time I've ever given feedback on someone's degree plan, so bear with me, but here are a couple thoughts:

I'm not a BSBA guy myself, but if I'm not mistaken there is 1 StraighterLine course that TESU takes for UL credits. Not sure which one, but it's something I've read on here.

If you're looking for science options, I found OnlineDegree.com's Astronomy to be very enjoyable, and at only $9 the price is right. I can't speak to any of their other courses, but you might consider swapping in a few of those to save some $$$$. We don't have an official list of equivalencies (rumour is we'll get our hands on one soon, plus before long people will be posting how it was evaluated for them), but just eyeballing it they have several classes that would likely count as science (Astronomy, Biology, Computer Science, Environmental Science), they have Microeconomics which it appears you need, and their Intro to Finance/Accounting might meet your Financial Accounting requirement.

Dfrecore, I added the check boxes back to my spreadsheet. For quickly glancing, dark blue means I have completed the course and light blue means that the course is unattempted. The website file was too large to upload so I hope you can see the spreadsheet with a different type of file.

I changed both the sciences.

Mysonx3, I will check out Online Degree, thank you for the heads up.

Smile

Dfrecore, I forgot to comment on the second area of concentration issue. Thank you for explaining. I gather that two specific area of studies instead of general management and marketing would be better. I'm starting to learn towards marketing and human resources.

SL's Managerial Accounting - ACC150 comes into TESU as Cost Accounting - ACC-303 (UL for the BSBA AOS).

And to add, that's the only UL course transfer from SL to TESU as a few of their courses got bumped down to LL. It's perfect for your BSBA GM, you should also add ACC 151 Financial Accounting as it comes in as Intermediate Accounting I (ACC 201 at TESU).

Those two courses would be part of the AOS GM, you can then finish off the degree by taking some ACC/FIN/MAR/MAN courses.
