First exam in 3 years tomorrow
#1
After a promotion at work and a transfer to a new city/state, my efforts toward completing my degree have been on the shelf for over a year and a half.

I've actually completed all of my core (read: upper division) requirements for my major but have a number of lower division electives to complete. I got on the right track back in '05 and took 3 DANTES tests in a 2-month period of time, passing them all.

So -- tomorrow will mark my first exam since that time. I picked a relatively easy one (DANTES Here's to Your Health) to get warmed up with, since I work in the health insurance field and the forum notes indicate that it's a lot of common sense. I've been studying the IC flashcards for a few days on and off and have hit them harder tonight.

I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't find any DANTES test centers in town that offer computerized testing, so I'll be in suspense for a month or so before getting my score. But just hopping back on the horse tomorrow will be an important step.

Best of luck to all of you that are also testing tomorrow and thanks to all who have posted feedback about the exam.

Regards,
Kimberly

Thank you for the good wishes!

I will share my feedback about the exam itself in the exam thread.

However, there were some environmental factors at play that make me a little worried about my test score.

1) Although the DANTES testing site that I went to says that it accepts non-students,
- No clearly marked visitor parking
- Only 8 parking meters in front of testing center
- Parking meters only available for max 1 hr time (!!!!!)
I was relaxed and prepared for my test before I arrived on campus and drove around for 20 minutes trying to find parking. Aggravating!

2) Test room is in the same hallway as classrooms. I could actually hear the lecture of the instructor in the room next to mine during the test!

3) When I brought these subjects up after my test was over, I was told that the proctor was supposed to offer me earplugs (she did not).

I had another test scheduled for the same test site for Thursday so I asked for a cancellation of that test and a refund of my test admin fee.

I don't want to publicly disparage the place as the administrator was open to my concerns and feedback. However.. if you are in the San Antonio area and would like to know the place of which I speak, please send me a PM.

On a positive note, I can complete my degree with just CLEP tests from now on and the CLEP testing center near my home is very nice.

Have a good one!

Kimberly
