Hey guys I would like a little bit more insight on the writing assignments and how harshly they are graded. I see a lot of people was having trouble with the APA 7th edition format so I want to review that before starting it by papers. Has anyone ever failed a multiple choice exam twice if so what happened to that course and we're you able to take it for the third time?

Hmm, only advice I have for you is... Don't fail! Tada!
To be serious, I don't recall anyone having too much difficulty with the multiple choice exams, they were mainly telling me the assignments or rubrics may have some confused on completion. As long as you're following instructions for the course and the rubric for the assignments, the multiple choice exams should be an easier one. Your focus should be assignments and assessments for the course, the multiple choice exams are easier as you can use a second monitor for multi-tasking and searching, reviewing material for answers.

Why do you think writing assignments are graded harshly?

That APA issue is only in 1 class with 1 professor. It is not an issue across the university. I found UMPI to be a mix on grading. Some professors are tougher than others. That's how it goes at every college.
If you fail an exam twice then you need to meet with Cody. You need an 80 to pass. I don't know anyone who's failed twice.

Are the exams open book? Could we use second monitor for multiple choices?
Thanks

There are very few exams in YourPace at UMPI. Some majors don't have any. Exams are NOT open book. You can only use 1 monitor. What you're asking constitutes as cheating at UMPI and you can be expelled for cheating on exams.

Most Final Assessments are papers or projects.

Oopsie, for some reason I thought they were OPEN book exams, thus I mentioned in the first post reply to do so... Thanks for letting us know. I was going to say, if sara141 requires a translation software to use Google Translate while working on those open book exams... I guess I'll refrain from that.

@sara141, I highly recommend you review the instructions for the course and rubric on how they score your assignments and projects, I would guess they're mainly on the quantity and quality of your written answers. You don't have to go "overboard" but sticking to the requirements is all you need to do.

If someone is going to need a translation service then they need to check with YourPace about how and if this allowed. There is nothing in the learning platform that offers translations. Everything is English. Papers must be written in English. All presentations must also be in English. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. are all graded as well. This in the rubric for each Final Assessment. There have been many on here who have completed an UMPI degree and English is not their first language. I haven't seen anyone need translation services though.
