Quote:UoPeople received WASC accreditation eligibility!
What does WASC Accreditation Eligibility mean?
The WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) is a regional accrediting agency. University of the People has applied for Eligibility to become accredited by their commission. WSCUC reviewed UoPeople’s eligibility application and determined that the institution is eligible to proceed with an Application for Accreditation.
A determination of Eligibility is not a formal status with the WASC Senior College and University Commission, nor does it ensure eventual accreditation. It is a preliminary finding that the institution is potentially accreditable and can proceed within five years of its Eligibility determination to be reviewed for Candidacy or Initial Accreditation status with the Commission.
While UofP is very inexpensive(with potential discounts for low income students), it has long been only NA and not RA which is enough to turn many potential students away. If they achieve RA(and maintain low costs), they could be a potential game changer for higher education, depending on how friendly they are with accepting alternative credits for transfer.

They're still significantly cheaper than the Big 3.

The biggest issue will likely be the language barrier with administration (not the professors) leading too poor student support services. Additionally, the peer grading system needs to be changed because currently it causes students reporting plagiarism to be penalized rather than only penalizing the student at fault for plagiarism.

Ok, i didn't check in deep them new rules.
I think that if they became an RA university, then they will also be a good source of RA credits.

They don't have classes you just roll up into like many of our sources. They really want you there for the full 4 years. I've seen many people not receive much in the way of transfer credit as well. Their setup is a bit odd.

Possibly...
You never have a 100% guarantee of credit transfer, even between RA schools, and you never have a 100% guarantee that a class from one school can be applied to specific program requirement from another school.
Plus, as ss20ts said, UofPeople will likely only let people who matriculate into their degree programs take courses(besides their foundations/admittance courses).

The future is now: https://www.uopeople.edu/about/worldwide...editation/
Looks like they almost maxed out that 5-year timeline, but UoPeople is finally now RA.
I wonder what kind of transfer hacks this opens up. I’m personally keen on taking their BS Com Sci as an alternative to WGU.
