I have taken the online practice test for English and it was pretty hard, dont beat yourself up:] we have all failed. If you know you want it, youll eventually pass it. I know it sucks having to pay money and failing, but brush yourself off and do it again! Even the HIGHLY successful people have the world have failed, not saying you are not successful, but Im sure even Tiger Woods wishes he would have done better at some point or another:] Just have strenght in yourself to know the second time around you are going to kick that test's A%&

Thanks again guys for the encouragement...I know I always can count on you guys for a good kick in the pants!!!

I was almost depressed when I found out I failed that exam. Marshall and failing English sounds like it doesn't even belong in the same sentence. And to add insult to injury, I miss the cut off score by one stinking point. I was already upset at the fact that I scored that low in the first place; but to totally fail that exam was totally unacceptable in my book. However, what's done is done and I will move forward amicably. I have DSST Supervision scheduled for 8/13 so I'm hoping to pass this test and put some pep back in my step. Thank you all again for everything...Thank You.

Bat you are too funnyhilarious !!!!....."Vulcan Mind Trick!!!!!!"
I did ask for my essay to be graded again by the College Board. Within a week I got a call stating that my 49 still stands. Whether they "actually" regraded my essay is another matter entirely. I wish I could have a copy of my essay and I would ask an English Professor here in my neighborhood to grade it just to see. But I do trust the College Board and believe that they did have it regraded...at least I'm willing to believe that they did.
I would highly recommend to others taking this exam to not take this exam for granted and to study for it the same way you would for any other exam (regardless of proficiency in the subject matter); whether CLEP, DSST, or TECEP. Based on what I read from others experience, I didn't feel the exam warranted my usual study time requirements. Just to show you how bizarre this whole debacle is...I passed A&I Lit with a nice score of 64, and with only an hour of reviewing literary terms. I fail English Composition by one point with a relatively decent background in the subject!!!!!!(not really funny but I'll keep a sense of humor). That is just utterly ridiculous!
Hope this info helps some.
Thanks again you guys and keep up the good work.
Peace be with you all.
From a loyal degree seeker,
Marshall

Every once in a while there's a conflict of opinion on this site. But generally, it ends there and doesn't go too far. Everyone usually treats others with respect, and I've never seen anyone lash out at another. These types of negative behaviors are all too common on other forums. That's why I've been always grateful that this forum was different.
So let's keep on motivating each other and disregard any negative posts that may come our way. This site is way too wonderful to begin that sort of behavior.
Just thought it needed to be said.......just my 2 cents

Great point! The support here is incredible. This forum is unique in that aspect and let's just ignore any attempts to change that.

Marshall,
Sorry to hear about that brother. I just got back from a week at the beach and hopped on to see what was going on and the first post I read is my buddy Marshall. Keep your chin up, you have been on a great roll, surely there is another option for you. Now that vacation is over I will be jumping back in the game soon myself.

Marshall,
Sorry about what happened. The 49 makes it all the more painful Iâm sure. You are doing really well otherwise, so donât lose sight of the goal.
Your fellow traveler,
Brian

I took english with comp, and studied alot of grammar rules prior to the test. I found that the test was much more writing revision than grammar, spelling and verb tense etc. Since 50% of the grade on the test is the composition, my guess is your comp was not up to snuff since you ran short on revision time.
I look at clep testing this way, It is not a trick, or dice roll, it is a chance to save some time and 1,000 dollars with each class. If you didnt pass, you are only out about 100 bucks plus the time you put into studying (which you get back as value when you have to take an english class, or Clep again). You still have gained some valueable knowlege. Clep testing is really a self design study program that validates your knowlege, not a quicky to somehow "get out" of the learining process.
Take the lump, suck it up, and try again. I have been trying to get my associates for 18 years, and I am 1 class and 1 clep away. You can do it! If failure beats you, you deserve to lose. best of luck!
