Excelsior degree info needed

Looks pretty good to me, but dfrecore knows Excelsior better. Hopefully, she can chime in if it's good or if something was overlooked.

First, the $1095 enrollment fee has gone the way of the dodo bird, making it much better to go ahead and enroll in EC now rather than waiting. I would probably take the Info Lit course fairly early on, to go ahead and become enrolled and get the advisors in on the deal.

I know nothing about this degree in particular - I can only go by what I know from prior experience:
1) EC does not do the Additional A&S courses in a separate area if they will fit in one of the other areas - so you'd just have Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Science/Math
2) Cornerstone & Info Lit are Free Electives, not in the A&S areas
3) Computer courses are free electives
4) It doesn't look like you covered all of the degree-specific requirements

- HSC320: Health Care Issues in Culturally Diverse Populations
- PSY305: Research Methods
- HSC432: Intro to the Health Care Delivery System

5) if you have extra courses in your major, they will place those up in the major area, rather than in the electives - so you just need to re-sort everything and place in the right areas

THEN, I would contact EC to see if they will take all of these courses from U of People - because I'm not 100% certain they will. I'd hate for you to go through the time and effort to take these and then have EC say they won't accept them. I'd also check to make sure that they will bring in courses as UL that you're shooting for, as well as what they'll come in as (I'm guessing the course numbers you have are from UofPeople, not from EC?).

Thank you. I am aiming for NS rather than HS due to needed specific courses. Placing things in the right areas is my issue.
My major is complete so I can't use those I've mentioned in my electives?
How long can you be enrolled for before graduation? I plan on finishing this time next year

You need 1 of your UL courses to be a lab - do you have that?

Other than that, no, all of your electives do not need to be sciences - but have you been shown which courses fit in your AoS?  Or are you guessing?  Because if you know which are considered Natural/Physical sciences, then you'd know exactly how many credits you have there, including UL and LL.

For instance, you have Public Health in there, but I doubt they'll consider that a science course.  So check to make sure you know exactly where everything is falling.

I need an UL lab? I'm looking at NS without concentration


I am guessing what goes where I haven't done an eval yet.

Public health 1:

Health is a multidimensional concept with both a concrete and a social definition. In this course concepts of health and illness are explored to examine the ways in which the environmental surroundings, as well as the conditions under which we are born, grow, work, play, and age, shape our personal, community and population health. The course also investigates the structural and intermediary determinants of health such as social environment, social capital, behavior, and biology.

Public health 2:

This course provides an opportunity for students to delve further into key topics including social inequalities and their potential impact on health, with emphasis on marginalized and stigmatized populations; the role of resource allocation in health care; public health programming and the role of the State in public health; the health care system as a social institution; and how the health care system interfaces with populations, communities, and individuals through key decision making processes and communications.

Those would be electives then? I'd need 2 more sciences, chemistry probably, from sophia & saylor. 13 courses before I do the 3 remaining with Excelsior.

Clearly I need to learn to read lol I am using the course catalog. I'm pretty sure I'm okay with the GE requirements but will check again. So ALL electives need to be in natural/physical sciences.

Now to find an UL Lab, probably impossible.

Maybe I should just go for the easiest degree I can and forget this degree

I've not ruled out HS, it's just that they require specific UL courses.
