My application for my associates... . I just don't get why I feel a little ill. Is this normal? I should be super happy right??? Don't get me wrong I am happy but I guess it just seems not real since it has been almost 10 years in the making. I also opted to go for the ASBA instead of the AAS in Administrative Studies. I changed my mind once I passed my Aleks Trig which is Precalc at TESC.

Congrats! You actually made a very wise choice in switching your degrees. The ASBA will be much more accepted if you continue on with your degree progression. Most AAS degrees are considered non-transferable and most of the courses within in them don't transfer either. So you should be happy about your new degree! Congrats and good luck in your future endeavors.

Congratulations, you will be joining a strong group of tesc business students and alumni here. Study hard, read the entire REA book and do all the tests twice and you will pass with flying colors. The material is cumulative so good study habits on the management clep will help you on principles of supervision so don't ever think you are wasting time reading the entire book.

thank you . I do have one question @ marianne202. My husband was going to go for the AAS in Administrative Studies @TESC so that he will have something under his belt. He was planning to apply for a nursing program and he understands that he will have to do alot of courses in that program but we were both thinking that most of his gened would be covered. I mean he is taking just about everything except for history cleps which he is planning to do before he applies. Do you think that they credits will not transfer over because they are in an AAS degree?

The best thing to do is to talk to the school where the nursing program is that he plans to transfer into. If he does most of his gen eds via CLEP or DSST they may then transfer. The problem is that most schools AAS programs are considered technical in nature and terminal degrees, so that the material required is usually not at the same level as those required by universities for degree programs. I teach at a community college and our AAS programs are taught mostly by teacher's without master's degrees which means the course work isn't accepted by universities in transfer. But then again, most of our AAS degrees don't require the same level coursework as our AS degrees do, such as the English or math requirement is lower, thus non-transferable into a degree. I would say check with the school he plans on attending to make sure it will transfer. He may be further ahead to do an AS degree in something health related, then all those credits will transfer. He can do FEMA courses for electives. Better safe than sorry down the road. You don't want to have to spend more time or money to duplicate course work.

"Terminal" as it applies to associates degrees is that most AAS degrees are considered terminal because they are very specialized and apply directly to a specific job path. They lack enough general education requirements to be used toward a more advanced degree hence being "terminal". I have an AAS and ALL of my courses that I completely to do that degree transfered directly into a BA without a problem. In my area our 2 year school system has many teachers that do not have a Master degree and they are teaching. I have never seen or heard of these credits not transfering into a 4 years school. For instance a graphic design program has instructors that only have a AAS in Graphic Design. These students that enter the program go onto a 4 year Graphic Design do not have their credits edited because they might have had A teacher with a two year degree. Much of the issues in transfer I find is that the schools have set courses that must be completed in their degree.
