Can anyone who has dealt with Excelsior advise me on how they handle this exam, in light of it not satisfying their written English requirement? Seems like it would be duplicate credit for any classes fulfilling that requirement, and not be counted. Thanks.

It does not satisfy written english, but I do believe it would satisfy Humanities credits.

That's correct.
However, Excelsior only allows a maximum of SIX credits of English Composition.
If you fulfill the Written English Requirement (WER) with a 3-credit exam such as ECE College Writing, or TESC English Composition I, and also pass the 6-credit CLEP English Composition, you would still only receive SIX total English Comp credits. In this case, the CLEP English Comp exam will only earn 3 additional credits instead of the full 6 (as Humanities electives).
If you fulfill the WER with Excelsior's 6-credit English Composition exam, you would instantly earn all six permissable English Comp credits. In this case, the CLEP English Comp exam will not earn you any credits at all.
Hope that makes sense,

Ditto to what snazzlefrag said. I passed ECE's College Writing for WER, and then the CLEP English (without essay) for 3 Humanities credits. I'm not big on humanities so I was ok with only getting 3 credits, and was informed ahead of time by my advisors.
