So, I just passed my English Comp CLEP and wanted to throw my two sense into the arena for anyone studying for it. First the flashcards on this site are kind of helpful to get you started thinking about all the grammar rules you may have forgotten or never learned. However, I highly suggest not spending too much time on them as they aren't helpful practice for the test at all.
The Peterson website was awesome practice and honestly was much harder than the test itself. I was worried when I finally went into to take the test. I was failed one of the Peterson test and barely passed the other two practice test they have (51 on one and a 54 on the other). I ended up scoring a 76 on the real test, but trust me I did spend many hours studying and practicing for this test.
Beyond the Peterson test, I used a guide by Barron's as well which worked out pretty well both in testing my aptitude as well as testing my test taking skills. It has been a few years, but I was in AP English all through Jr. high and high school. I am so thankful I wasn't cocky enough to think I could pass this test w/out studying as the test format alone probably would've hosed me.
In short if you can pass or even come close to passing the practice tests on Petersons this test should be a breeze. And what could be sweeter than knocking out two college classes in less than 3 hours, and for less than $100....books included?!!?
