Easiest 2nd bachelors
#21
Flying-Ace Wrote:I am working on my 2nd Bachelor's through TESU (reverse of you, I'm now earning my BSBA). My first degree was BA in Social Sciences (now offered as BALS with Soc Sci concentration). It is very test-out friendly. The Social Science concentration is the *easiest* option you mention simply because all of the courses you need are available at Straighterline and Study.com. You will have to do the Capstone at TESU regardless of the degree. All of your Gen Ed credits won't need to be re-done.
With that being said, the Psychology degree sounds like a better fit for your career plans! The reality is that there are only 3 additional courses that you will have to find sources for the credits that aren't currently available through CLEP, DSST, SL, Study.com (rumored to be working on ACE credit for 2 of the classes) etc.: History & Systems, Physiological Psy, and Ethics in Soc Sci. There are 39 AOS credits required: shouldn't be too difficult to come up with new or add'l credits to fill 'em up. It's free to re-apply if you are a graduate. Won't hurt to apply and then negotiate any issues you have as they come up.
Hope that helps,
Ace

Yeah, I've been thinking about becoming a licensed psychology, so I feel as though Psychology would be a great 2nd Bachelor's. ;ately, I've been thinking about getting my Master's, but I don't want to miss out on broadening my horizons with a 2nd degree. How was the Capstone for you? I didn't want to deal with it, so I decided to get my BSBA instead lol

You can reverse transfer your graduate psych courses to complete your BS/BA in Psych also.

The Capstone was intimidating to say the least. I made a 99% on the class, and my Mentor was responsive and helpful when asked: Dr. Dan Wiley. I think he can be as hands-off as a student wants. But if you ask him for help, then he steps up. It is basically a highly structured Research Paper. If you can follow instructions and write coherently about the research you find, then you will pass. The single most difficult part of the class is finding and limiting the right topic. You don't really get help with that part, so it is good to go into the class with your topic already chosen (plus a back-up just in case). It will be a good warm-up for your Master's classes which tend to require plenty Thesis papers. If you have the time/money to invest in a Master's, then I say go for it!!! However, if the 2nd BA will look good on job apps, office walls, etc. then getting one now while you are on a roll will be easier than changing your mind later and wishing you had already done it.
Completed:
TESU BA Social Sciences, BSBA (ACBSP Accredited)

If you're want to be a licensed psychologist (or MFT or LCSW or ...) you'll need a Master's anyway, and you won't survive a Master's if you can't deal with the Capstone course, which is essentially a baby Thesis paper. If it were me, I would look to go directly to the Master's program, which will probably require you to take some pre-reqs that a BSBA wouldn't have included. After you work up a list of pre-reqs, if taking those would get you close to the second Bachelor's, THEN I'd consider doing it.

creditmonsoon Wrote:Hello, everyone, I am very close to earning my bs in general business administration @TESC. Question. Whats the easiest 2nd bachelors? I thought about psychology, but is there anything I can get in the medical field that wont require taking classes at TESC?

I want to join the military's amedd division but its difficult with a business degree lol

Easiest or best for your situation? Easy is well easy but you will be holding two degrees that doesn't get you closer to your goal of military medicine if I understand your post. I am not military so I can't offer much but do you want enlisted or officer? Xray, nursing, dental or whatever? Figure out where you want to be and work backwards. You said psychology but I doubt even military medical services has much use for a BA in Psychology. I bet a masters in social work or some licensed masters level mental would be what they want and need.

So they told you you can graduate with two Bachelors with the single residency waiver fee? It seems like a lot of people are being told it's not true, but maybe you got in before they changed. I am trying to see if I can possibly do a second bachelors with my BSBA.

Both of your degrees would have same graduation date, I'm sure? Otherwise TESU needs 24 new credits in AoS if you graduate with one first.
