EU - BSLA
#31
Hmm if you really want to get that second degree, for Excelsior, just like advisors for TESU, I would recommend getting in contact with someone who can help or go up the chain to the registrar if needed. As I mentioned earlier, it may be better to go the Masters route instead as you don't really need the second bachelors, that's what your advisors at Excelsior would say as well because you need 30 different credits.

Get this, if you do the BSLA with 21 Arts/Sciences and 9 Applied Studies UL credits, you're done... You apply for the multiple academic award to get the BSPS, you need to get the UL/major requirements completed, that's the main difference, you can use Lawshelf, Saylor.org, whatever else that is ACE/NCCRS that can transfer into the degree and pay the extra capstone to finish the BSPS, you can have a concentration in Business, Tech Management, etc.

Here's an example from last year on the sister board, for reference you may want to read the entire thread, but here is my take along with the reasons in several posts following it, I know Excelsior will allow this, you just need to know who to talk to: https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?thr...ost-556434

Sorry didn't see your message.

To answer the question "what am i trying to do?":

Essentially i wanted to lower the risk that comes with not having a Bachelors degree. In the industry i work in allot of folks in my position, similiar positions or future posiitions i aspire for, have a BS in a Business or Engineering discipline OR job posts will reference the BS as a requirement for the position. I've minimized the impact its made on me through 3rd party certifications relevant to my industries, but i would like to completely eliminate the risk and achieve the BS. Now as to why Excelsior and the BSLA.. In my experience it is not so much what the degree is in (as i have the experience/skills/certs) but more so the requirement to "check the box". This led me to Excelsior and the BSLA program as it gave me the shortest time-frame with the fewest hoops while still remaining a credible option.

Now why i am looking at the MBA for WGU.. Essentially the same risk reduction strategy. I don't truthfully see much value in a BSLA degree as opposed to "checking the box" to satisfy minimum education requirements. But i would still like to have a relevant degree and for my industry that is either a Business degree or a Engineering degree. Hence the MBA..

Now on-to the discussion for Excelsior BS in Business focus- this does intrigue me if i am in a position where i can take Sophia/Lawshelf and/or Excelsior Capstone courses to achieve the degree requirements. A second Bachelors (for the right price <$5k) would not hurt and it would help lower the risk of having a BS that doesnt provide much value (IMO).

To speak to the MBA- I am interested in the MBA due to the broadness of the degree and how it could apply to more than just the manufacturing industry. I became interested in WGU because of the credibility and speed in which you can take the program. I would be interested in other MBA options aswell though.

Not really, finish the BSLA and then update the thread... While you're working on those final courses, You need to also have them send you an evaluation for your BSPS at Excelsior so you know what courses you're missing.  You can then take all the credits from third party ACE/NCCRS providers and complete the final capstone.

Note: As per the link I sent you in post #29, you need to get permission to take multiple credentials from Excelsior.  From that link, it mentions you need to graduate and then apply for this second bachelors, you will need to take the ACE/NCCRS credits, then the final capstone.

Having said that, email them now and ask to see if you can complete concurrent studies for that second degree and graduate both at the same time. Technically, you're taking all the courses for both bachelors, the capstones last, then graduate at the same time.  Express your interest to graduate at the same time...

Hello,

I got the unofficial evaluation for the BPS BM degree from Excelsior. This is what I have left to complete to meet those requirements. It seems like I may be able to do a few of these at least through Sophia learning. Does this forum have any roadmaps or courses identified that fit these categories?

Arts and Sciences Component (9 credits must be completed at the upper level)

3 Business Writing
3 credits in Organizational Behavior
3 credits in Math elective
6 credits in Upper Level Arts & Science electives Business Component (15 credits must be upper level) 3 credits in Leadership
3 credits in Accounting
3 credits in Project Management
3 credits in Human Resource Management
3 credits in Marketing
3 credits in Finance
3 credits in Global Business
3 credit BUS 490 IBA Capstone
12 credits in Business Electives

Additional Credit Component

1 credit in Information Literacy
3 credits in Cornerstone
You need approximately 55 credits to complete a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business and Management.

Do we believe SCI-101 (Cooper Smith Science) Science of Nutrition is covered under Excelsior UL A/S? I need 3 science/mathematics

If you take Version 2, maybe. The credit recommendation says Version 1: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Nutrition or as a core science requirement (6/13). Version 2: In the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Nutrition or a core science requirement (8/18 revalidation). You'd have to contact Coopersmith to be sure that you were taking the correct version (you should be), but there's always a chance that Excelsior will count it as the LL credit recommendation. That's what the wiki says it is: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Co...Consulting

I would suggest maybe an UL Psychology course from Coopersmith. Others have reported Coopersmith's Psych courses to be (relatively) easy.

I did. Didn’t see any.

Seems my best bet is to take an UL MATH class because Excelsior doesn’t accept many Upper Level Natural Science courses from cooper.

Where are you planning to take the classes? There are science classes at Saylor.org, Sophia.org, Straighterline, Study.com, I would look into the most used ACE/NCCRS options before you take a class elsewhere...
