Diploma Size Change?

I already have a couple of undergraduate degrees (in the social sciences) so I know  I'll be able to meet the gen ed requirements and be able to transfer in 90. But manangement courses make a little nervous since I tried taking some graduate courses at a business school a few years ago and it didn't work out.

My thinking behind study.com is that, according to the wiki, all requirements for the management minor can be transferred in using study.com and sophia. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but then it would mean that I would be able to graduate by fulfilling my 30 credits required for residency by taking electives?

Wait. You already have a couple of bachelor's degrees? It will be interesting if UMPI accepts you since you already have multiple bachelor's degrees. How many do you have? Many schools won't accept you for a 3rd or 4th bachelor's degree and will instead send you to grad school.

You'll be waived for the GEC and electives. You still must complete a minimum of 30 credits at UMPI and like bjcheung stated the major/minor requirements. Those aren't waived when you have multiple bachelor's degrees. Since you already have multiple bachelor's degrees, don't take anything on Sophia or Study. You'll already be at the 90 transfer credit limit. If you spend the money and time on Study and/or Sophia courses, you could end up having a problem where you don't have enough courses to complete at UMPI to meet the degree requirements. I had that when I completed my second bachelor's degree at UMPI. I had to take an extra course outside of my degree to meet the 30 credits requirement.

I have two B&M RA BAs and an B&M RA MS so this is purely for personal enrichment and I won't be relying on FA, I would be paying out of pocket. I'll apply and report back if I was denied admission. 

I already paid for a month of Sophia so I might as well knock out some lower level courses I've never completed in the past like economics and philosophy but I'm going to follow the recommendation that you and other people have provided that I avoid study.com. 

In regards to the extra courses you needed for your second degree, what kind of courses did you need to take outside you degree to meet the 30 credit requirement?

The bachelor's degree limits schools have isn't due to financial aid. Nothing to do with that at all. There comes a point where you have to move forward with your education and that is why they push you towards grad school. Excelsior flat out wouldn't allow me to complete a second bachelor's degree after I completed my BLS at UMPI. They would only allow me in their MBA program. I didn't want their MBA program which I find to be expensive compared to other schools. I did my MBA at Amberton and their MBA programs are concentrated on specific areas such as Project Management and Strategic Leadership. I didn't have to repeat any of my undergrad courses either which was awesome. I would have repeated a ton of my business undergrad courses in EU's MBA program. I know in undergrad you learn the theories and as a grad you apply the theories, but I had literally just finished my degree and didn't want to repeat courses I just paid good money for and in CBE programs you do have to apply the theories to prove your competent. You don't just regurgitate facts back like you do in traditional programs.

I had to take an extra business course that was not a requirement for my Major and Concentration. My academic advisor gave me some options and I got to choose which one I took.

If I'm denied no harm done. But it's worth a shot for me.

Some people would recommend a third Bachelors, others would recommend an applied Masters, depending on what you want.
An option for you is, you can go the UMPI MAOL instead of a BABA unless you're thinking of something else...

thank you for the link. My intent for wanting to earn a BLS in Management is purely for enrichment. I am working in the industry I want to work in until I retire and I am happy with my current job so I have no desire to change industries or roles. 

I guess hypothetically, this could help if I want to move into a managerial role but I know there are other credentials that would be make me more competitive in that regard. 

I work at a non-profit and my long term plan is to look into doctorate programs relevant to my field after my loans are forgiven through the PSLF program in about 5 years. My primary motivation for earning this degree is really to have fun and learn some new things that results in another diploma to put up on the wall.

You want the BLS? I'm not sure you can complete the BLS because you already have a bachelor's degree. As an UMPI student, you can't complete any bachelor's degree then return to complete the BLS. This will be interesting to see what they say about your application! I thought you wanted the BABA. You may have a better shot at that then the BLS.

@six, if your workplace provides tuition assistance or reimbursement, you won't need to take out loans, I would recommend the MAOL Organizational Leadership instead of a BLS in management or the BABA Management & Leadership.

I emailed the YourPace contact email and asked. Students who have previously completed a bachelor's degree at another institution can apply and be accepted into a YourPace BLS program per the staff who responded to my email.

That's just really weird! UMPI alumni cannot come back for a BLS once they complete their BA. So strange.
