Department of Education gone?

First victory for DOGE.

Elon Musk, along with DOGE, issued a direct threat to end the political careers of anyone who voted for the 1,500-page CR bill. And just like that, the bill was dead. That’s power.

For context, the previous CR bill was only 21 pages long.

@RepThomasMassie with the truth bomb:

"I have Republican colleagues who'd rather run over their own mom with a car than to vote to cut spending."

Trump announced he is supporting a new plan that suspends the nation’s debt limit.

What happened to cutting government spending?

Trump just said, word for word, what I've been saying from the start. Most likely, the only spending cuts that will happen will be through a reconciliation bill, and they only have one shot at it.

Even reducing an increase of spending by one billion through a CR bill would be a win. I don't expect much.

"The proposal adds at least 65 cents of new spending for every dollar of continued discretionary spending. Debt-fueled spending sprees may "feel good" today, but it's like showering cocaine on an addict: it's not compassion, it's cruelty."said Vivek Ramaswamy. That is why DOGE rejected it.

Congress doesn’t function effectively—they need to use a martial law rule to get things done.

Remember, congress is run by the republican majority. Over 30 republicans votes against this most recent funding bill. Even a few democrats voted for it. The republicans hold all the power to pass legislation, but cant even pass a spending bill.

I'm not sure that bill had 60 votes to make it through the Senate even if it passed.

Congressman Jamie Raskin:

"And then, it was blown up by Elon Musk, who apparently, has become the 4th branch of government. That is intolerable."

Congressman Jamie Raskin: Rosa DeLauro

“We have an outside influence who believes, I think, he is president—and that’s President Musk—who was not elected, has no authority, and is trying to really upend what the services are to the American people.”

Congressman Hakeem Jeffries: (Previous Remarks)

"When you run up the deficit, middleclass families pay, working class families, and we are going to defend them."

Senator Rand Paul

The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress . . .

Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk . . . think about it .  . . nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds)

It's looking like Mike Johnson may not be Speaker of the House in 2025.

Trump and Catturd are wrong.

Chip Roy and Thomas Massie are right.

Now this would be a political move to show that something can pass through the house. The Senate is another story.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out today.

Last night, they passed the CR bill, which included around $100 billion in new spending. This was passed under suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote to pass the House.

A few items were cut from the original bill, including:
  • $3 billion for building a new football stadium in D.C.
  • Pay raises for Congress
I would have liked to see them also cut the $12 billion allocated for new submarines, which we don’t need.

We’ll take this as a win, considering DOGE blocked the first bill and secured some small cuts. It’s going to be a long battle against the establishment to achieve any significant spending reductions.

With the size of China's navy now exceeding ours, we need the submarines.

I thought the win was cutting trillions of dollars from Social Security and Medicare?
