hello I was denied admission to umpi YourPace program . im not exactly sure but it seems that its because my most previously attended schools transcript has 4 classes with W and one possible F. they are recommending I take 2 classes as a non degree student. however I was wondering if taking ASU 25$ class could pssibly satisfy this

We could say whatever we want, but it's up to the school whether it's okay with them. I say decide which two courses you would take at ASU, and then send them an email with your proposal that if you take those two courses and pass if they're okay with that. The fact that you said they're "recommending" to me means they're open to other alternatives.

this is the email I received . they recommended classes from UMPI I misread the email message at first glance.
honestly dont know the reason for denial im just assuming this is the reason.. I dont think they would deny me based on having too many credits or earning them too quickly?

This is one of those things that you have to contact the school for. Ask them what was the reason for the denial and what can be done to resolve it. No one here is going to know for sure since there aren't any employees of the school here.

Why do I suspect they meant to take 2 courses from them to determine if you can meet their standard? The ASU course and possibly other similar ASU courses are wonderful in that you can keep redoing until you get 100%. Does anyone not get an A on that series of courses? Are the prolific errors in your written English the cause of your problem?

I think the OP misread the email from the school. It doesn't say anything about 2 courses. It just says that he/she can take YourPace courses as a non-degree student.

As
RJ77 pointed out, the OP (doctorTorres) can take the YourPace courses as a non-degree student, pass them (as they'd need to anyway) and then apply internally to be officially a student. If the OP couldn't pass the courses as required they wouldn't be able to complete the program anyway. I would add that the OP should plan on at least two terms (one to gain the faith of UMPI during the probationary term, while completing some needed courses, as they'll count - definitely focus on getting the best grades they can during this first term) and the following term(s) to complete as a degree seeking student and graduate.
I will add that any student on a probationary period from any school will not be eligible for financial aid until they return to good academic standing. So the 1st term (at least) would have to be paid out of pocket. This OP did not mention how they planned to pay, but it seemed worth mentioning for all to be aware.

Yeah that's the most likely scenario if the denial was due to grades or prior academic performance. I doubt that UMPI would accept courses from other sources that are easily passable.

It sounds like your GPA is too low to qualify for regular admission to YourPace. They offered you a path as a non-degree seeking student as a way to test out the waters. Typically those with low GPAs don't fair well in programs such as YourPace.
Ws don't factor into a GPA. The F does factor in. So if you're only grade was an F then you have a 0.0 GPA. Have you done Sophia? You didn't provide us with the full picture of what your academic life looks like. I mean I had plenty of Ws and a few Fs in my transcripts, but I repeated those courses and boosted my GPA years ago.
