Decision Time - Straighterline, CLEP, DSST, or Study.com
#11
Thanks everyone for the information.

I have to make a decision still, but I am leaning towards Study.com, but one concern I have is reading that some people have had trouble getting Study.com to stop charging them. I think that may only be those who were doing the trial, but I have to ask if anyone who has used them has had billing trouble?

You can cram in as many classes as you can in that month as well. They also offer Principles of Finance and Business Law if you need more business courses.

Unfortunately, the list at APU of accepted Sophia don't show Principles of Marketing. Usually, APU will show the course/test, but then it will show what course it covers or if the particular course/test isn't accepted. I wonder, is P of M new at Sophia? Maybe APU hasn't updated it yet.

Nope. You can use a tablet. You just type in a sentence they give you. If it doesn't match to their specs, they send you a text and you enter that info.

Like I said, Principles of Marketing is brand new. It has only been out a few weeks so your school probably hasn't updated their list yet. Same with Principles of Finance. They both were released the last week of July.

If you are that rural then I'm guessing that you probably don't have the best internet connection? ProctorU is awful if your internet connection isn't 100% perfect. RPNow is much more forgiving. I highly recommend that you go with SDC.

I have paused my Study.com subscription something like 6 times and I have never had a problem with them charging me while paused.

Thanks Rachel for the heads up. Since I come from LA, everything that isn't a half million people is rural to me Smile

I live near a city of 100k people, so I do have good internet service, but I'm a bit of a drive from Sacramento which is the nearest testing facility I can find.

Thanks JSH.

Good to know you had no trouble. I am willing to be the complaints I read about were people who did the "no risk" trial, but didn't follow through on cancelling before the termination date. Alot of internet companies can be hard to get someone on the phone, so cancelling can be a challenge. I'll just be sure that if I use SDC that I have a plan for stopping the billing when I am done.
