What is the best book to get for this exam? new to all of this and trying to figure it out. any help is greatful.

Hi welcome to the forum. I would check the official DSST website and download their fact sheet about this exam at this link. Scroll down to the bottom and you should see Substance Abuse. This will give you a specific outline of what is on the test. They also recommend what textbooks you might want to use. If you decide to get a textbook you can usually buy a used copy (an older edition) on Amazon for a few dollars. If you are a paying member of InstaCert I would use the flashcards and also 'Specific Exam Feedback" section where people post what to focus on for the test, what they used to study, etc etc. I also recommend that you take the free Peterson practice tests--they are a very good indicator of how prepared you are to take the real test. Go to this website and it will show you where to get the tests for free. At the top of the homepage at that site it says DSST practice tests, click on that and it will show you where to get them. There should also be lots of info on that site of additional sources to study like Wiki, YouTube, psychology websites etc. Hope this helps!
