DSST practice tests
#1
Hi!

Before I sign-up at Prometric (ibt.prometric.com/dsst), I wondered if anyone knew which DSST practice exams they currently offer?

I am interested in Civil War, Astronomy, and Statistics.

Do they provide explanations for the answers?

Do you know of any other DSST practice tests available online or through books?

I do have the DSST Fact Sheets with covered topics and sample questions (DSST - GetCollegeCredit.com).

Thanks a lot.

When I signed up for access to official DSST practice exams at ibt.prometric.com/dsst, I found there are currently 13 practice exams available. (One year ago there were only 10.) It costs $5 for one day of access to each exam. Only wrong answers are provided with an explanation. Here’s the list:

Criminal Justice
Ethics in America
Fundamentals of College Algebra
Here's to Your Health
Introduction to Computing
Introduction to World Religions
Management Information Systems
Money and Banking
Personal Finance
Principles of Statistics
Principles of Supervision
Substance Abuse
Technical Writing

I know that Peterson’s online has 3 practice tests for each of these exams:

Ethics in America
Introduction to Computing
Management Information Systems
Principles of Supervision
Substance Abuse

Plus Peterson’s has an ebook with 2 practice tests for each of these exams:

Business Mathematics
Ethics in America
Human Resource Management
Introduction to Business
Organizational Behavior
Personal Finance
Principles of Financial Accounting
Principles of Supervision

Two recent threads for free Peterson’s online practice tests (CLEP/DSST/ebook):

http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...ement.html

http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...brary.html

The threads I posted above can be used by civilians to access Peterson’s practice tests.

There is a set of brand new practice exams (which includes Civil War) being offered to the military at the Peterson's site listed here:

http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...-test.html

There are a lot more DSST exams than the practice tests listed here. Has anyone found anymore DSST practice exams?

Thanks for your help.

I've been looking for DSST practice exams too. Currently, I'm specifically looking for an exam for Principles of Statistics, but the only location I can find a practice test(s) is on the official DSST website.

Hope this will be enough. Rolleyes

At least there is an official practice exam for statistics, since so many of the other exams don't have anything. For $5, it seems like it would be worth giving it a try. When do you think you will be ready for the exam? I'd like to know if you think the practice test is an accurate representation of the actual exam.

Did you take the test yesterday? How did it go? I hope you have good news to share! What did you think of the practice test?

Hey NAP and Munkin! Sorry it's taken a while to respond....yes, I did take the Stats test and passed with a 474! Big Grin I'll write a more detailed overview of the exam in the Specific Feedback section tomorrow.

I did take the practice exam on the DSST website...it had 50 questions rather than the 100 questions on the actual test. The questions were fairly accurate as to how the real exam was, but they seemed slightly more difficult. The real test was actually much easier than I had anticipated.

I also found some errors on the practice test questions. One very easy probability question had 4 obviously wrong answers (no correct one). And another question asked which regression line most nearly matched the scatterplot diagram below....but there was NO scatterplot below, which forced me to take a blind guess with a 0.25 probability of choosing the correct answer  ....okay, too much statistics. Rolleyes

Anyway, thanks for asking about the test. More to come soon...
