Has anyone else tried out any of the DSST practice exams listed on their website? I just took the one for Ethics in America, since I'm taking the test on Monday, the 31st. What a waste of time (I think).
It seemed to me that 80% of the questions were hardly related to the study materials and what will probably be on the actual exam. I was just wondering if anyone else took this specific practice exam, and if so, how it compared to the real exam.
I'm also curious if the same could be said for their other practice exams...that they wouldn't be much help in preparing for the real thing.
Comments anyone??

I don't know how relevant they are overall, but I think there's a good chance you'll see one or two of those questions on the test, so it couldn't hurt!

I found IC good enough for both this test and Ethics Theory and practice; I took them 2 days apart. Of course it couldn't hurt to take the practice tests as well, it might boost your confidence and show areas you might want to brush up on. I was simply too lazy to do that and just went for it. Hey, I'm honest if nothing else :o Good luck and let us know how it went. Lee

Lee...thanks for the feedback and good wishes...I really appreciate it!
Steve...I agree...there probably WILL be a few of the questions from the practice exam on the real exam, which is why I am also studying the results of the practice one. I'll let you all know how applicable it was once I take the real thing on Monday. (I intend to be feeling VERY
ethical on Monday...at least while I'm taking the test...ha ha). :p

Joanne,
I tried the online DSST Practice test for Environmental Science, and my reaction was about the same as yours - what a waste!! I expected to use the results to help me determine what I needed to study more, but the score report wasn't very helpful. It listed my incorrect response and gave a rationale of 'By definition', but it did not include the correct reponse.
I took the actual test earlier this week. I'd say that approximately 40% of the practice questions were related to the material on the actual test. But the real test seemed easier than the practice exam. I passed with a 66. The practice tests can't hurt, but I doubt I'll use them again.

Hi Kathi,
Welcome to the board! We're glad to have you join us!
Thank you for your feedback - I really appreciate. I totally agree with what you said about the score report not being that helpful because they don't include the
correct response. It's one thing to know that I answered a question incorrectly, but to
learn from it I need to know what the correct response
was!! Still, it will be interesting to see whether taking this particular practice exam helps me or not.
Looks like you did very well on your Environmental Science exam - congratulations on such an excellent score!
Good luck with the rest of your exams!

I took the DSST Ethics in America test this morning and thought it went very well. But the $20 I paid for the practice DSST test was a waste of money in my opinion. I don't recall there being
anything on the real exam that was on the practice exam. Thoroughly studying the InstantCert notes and the DSST book was enough to pass this exam (at least for me). Of course, I won't know for two weeks (or more) if I passed, but I left the test center feeling very confident on this one.

Hey Joanne I just took the Here's To Your Health Exam yesterday which was the Monday 12, 2008 and for every 6 or 7 questions on the exam was study material from Instantcert. I was highly pissed off that I study 292 questions and answers for no reason. I was guessing 75% of the time. I'm still waiting to see if I even passed.

before i found this thread i thought i'd try the dsst practice exam for money and banking. i signed up, clicked on practice exams... and there's no exams listed.
Maybe they don't offer them anymore but...it says they do.
I don't know. Whatever, DSST.
kind of makes me feel better that they aren't worth the money though. Thanks!
