Coursera - BS in Computer Science from top US university for only $10k !

(07-20-2022, 07:14 AM)Pikachu Wrote: $25k is a disappintment. TESU's BA CS, UoL's BS CS, and GeorgiaTech's MS CS are all significantly cheaper. I wonder which uni is partnering with Coursera for this. Oregon State's postbacc BS in CS costs $30k and UPenn's MCIT around $35k...

I wish UMPI offered a BS or BA in CS - that would probably be the cheapest CS degree possible.

As of an accreditation evaluation report completed circa May 12, 2021, bottom of page 11, UMPI planned to submit a Substantive Change Request in August 2022 to deliver Cybersecurity and Psychology programs via YourPace, "with Computer Science and Health Administration scheduled for proposals in 2023."

The PUG IT program is only 26 courses when you bring in the Google IT & PHP certs and cost around $5600 if you can do it in 2 terms.

https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/PU...egree_Plan

Purdue didn't make the public ivy list though is still a highly respected school with a strong brand name. Though Purdue Global is different from Purdue.

After you get this degree, you can add on something like a front-end developer cert or do IT certs to go for specific jobs

LOL

Now they're saying that they can offer a MS in CS from top university for $10k !

Is this going to be Georgia Tech OMSCS ?

Honestly, I think MS in CS makes a lot more sense.

Yeah, it seems like they can't make up their mind... which price, school they go with may determine the outcome...

$25k for 23 courses? That's like what, $350/unit? MANY universities charge less tuition than that for a BSCS. UMGC, Colordao Global Campus to name a few.

This is like a game show. Behind door #1 a $10K bachelor's degree. Behind door number #2 a $25K bachelor's degree. Behind door number #3 a $10K master's. Tune in next time to find out the name of the school providing one of these mystery degrees. Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets!

I don't like the Georgia Tech OMSCS.

  1. It takes too long to do (3 years)
  2. It doesn't serve much purpose
  3. The dropout rate is high (need B average to graduate)
I think you are better off building up your skills and gaining experience in the workplace.

I think it's going to be Boulder because they already have performance-based MSDS and MSEE programs. They're going to unabashedly change the tuition again from $10k to $20k.

Seems like they wanted to 1 up your idea and go with $25k.
