Hello!
I'm new to all of this and am trying to put together a degree roadmap for my daughter for TESC for a BA in Communications (anyone willing to send a copy of their roadmap??). She is currently in high school so she is not enrolled yet but we want to get started in trying some CLEPS. Any help in understanding would be appreciated!
Can you take the CLEP Humanities test, and then still take the following without duplication issues?
CLEP Analyzing & Interpreting Literature
CLEP American Literature
CLEP English Literature
Also, my daughter has already passed the CLEP Algebra test. Can she also take the CLEP College Math test and/or the PreCalculus test without duplication?
Also wondering if she takes the CLEP Natural Sciences test can she also take the CLEP Biology & Chemistry tests?
Thanks so much for all of the helpful info on this forum!

Hello and welcome!
The CLEP tests that you mentioned do not duplicate, so your daughter can take them all.
Here are the equivalent TESC course codes for the tests you mentioned. If the codes for different tests are different, they do not duplicate. You can get the codes from TESC's website, but I don't have the exact address now.
CLEP Humanities - HUM-101 and HUM-102
CLEP Analyzing & Interpreting Literature - LIT-291+292
CLEP American Literature - LIT-111+112
CLEP English Literature - LIT-208+209
CLEP College Algebra - MAT-121
CLEP College Mathematics - MAT-102+103
CLEP PreCalculus - MAT-129
CLEP Natural Sciences - NAS-101+102
CLEP Biology - BIO-111+112
CLEP Chemistry - CHE-111+112
Likewise, CLEP Social Sciences and History does not duplicate any of the history tests.
Keep in mind that in each area of the general education requirements, she should have at least two different subjects. So, the humanities requirement can be filled with a HUM and LIT, but not entirely with one (just LIT, for instance). For Natural Sciences, she could take CLEP Natural Sciences and Biology or Chemistry with no problem, but she could not have only math, for instance.
Hope this helps.

all fantastic link suggestions
One rule of thumb, is that within the same BRAND, you won't get duplication at TESC. So, if you do all CLEP, you'll get to use all the CLEPs. If you start adding in other tests (AP, DSST, and so on) then you'll have to start being careful. That's not to say that you shouldn't mix and match- you can, everyone does- it's just a quickie guideline to help you get started.
