Cheap NCCRS Credits from NOCTI
#21
I'll have to ask if it includes the virtual proctoring fee or not. But yeah, it is a pretty big contrast with the prices you posted earlier. Those seemed like a steal.

Okay, I was able to get some more information about NOCTI. I'm also able to post some answers directly now from the email. (Red text is

I was wondering if you could fill me in on a few things:

For the Nocti Business Solutions PLA. Is the $150 fee just for your exam and Nocti administrative fees? Or does it include the virtual proctoring fee as well? The fee also includes the virtual proctoring.

From the way that it appears. I could get a complete pre/post/performance job ready assessment through Nocti.org for $32. Why the large contrast in fees versus Nocti Business PLA @ $150? From the writing on the Nocit.org website it seems to imply that Job Ready Assessment provides a pathway to college credit as well. The NOCTI pricing is based on our end-of-program testing for high school level career and technical education centers. Schools order and pay for the assessments for all of their students and if the student meets or exceeds the passing score, they can explore the possibility of gaining college credit at the college or university in which they will attend after graduation. The NBS process was put into place for individuals who have technical expertise and would like to gain college credit for their real-world experience to complete a degree program. We established the pricing by doing a comparison to other high-stakes testing that offers college credit such as teacher certification."

Basically from what it seems: Nocti.org is strictly something for high school students for which the high school is working with NOCTI to create a curriculum based around a NOCTI exam. E.g. Students taking a vocational cooking course at the high school may potentially earn some college credits for culinary if they take the exam for NOCTI through their school. It 'might' be possible to go to an adult education center and ask if they'd work with NOCTI to provide the tests for the cheaper fee but I'm a little doubtful.

In summary: Nocti Business Solutions PLA is more or less the only option for people out of high school. The fee is $150 and includes virtual proctoring.

Another note: The additional 1-2+ credits via the performance test is not available via the PLA provided by Nocti Business Solutions, it is only for high school students through Nocti.org at this time.

You'll still average at around 3 credits for each Nocti PLA exam at $150, most LL, a few UL exams. You just won't be able to get the 'additional credits' listed at the bottom of each section at NOCTI and NOCTI Business Solutions: College Credit Recommendations: National CCRS

Revisiting this thread. I wanted to know if anyone has tried these assessment exams yet for credit. I know the cost at $150 is higher than other exams, like CLEP, but if you factor in the cost of a proctor, travel expenses (gas, parking, lunch, etc.) and the shear fact that they have more variety, I figured someone would have tried them by now. Also the have a 6 credit hospitality exam for UL credit, I wonder why no one jumped on that.

Anyone try this yet?

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.
