I'm guessing in TESC's case that it's all entirely on the basis if they want to accept it or not and how they'll apply it? Where as Excelsior would actually very likely give the UL?

I wrote to them on June 4, "I am interested in getting college credits using NOCTI assessments in computer technology, electronics, electronic technology and computer network fundamentals. Is it possible to do these assessments through ProctorU? ( I saw that NOCTI Business Solutions is using ProctorU but I do not understand if the college credits are rewarded). Also I am not very clear if individual can get these assessments. In "Getting started" it is written, "There is no cost to become a NOCTI customer. A Site Coordinator must be designated to oversee the testing program and be the primary contact for the site. Site Coordinators must be in an administrative role, cannot be an instructor and will complete a NOCTI testing agreement to get started." Should I make account and call myself site coordinator in order to get assessment? So, my questions are: 1) Can I use assessments for college credits and how can I do it, 2) Can I have test at home using ProctorU ?" They never answered.

TESC is the most generous in giving UL credits, so that's not anything to worry about. Human Resource Management is always UL at TESC unless it comes from a 2-year college. If the course is listed as UL at the links below, then the transfer course will most likely be UL. Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings

Here is a list of established test centers.
http://www.nocti.org/PDFs/Teacher%20Area...ectory.pdf It looks like this isn't the usual proctor process. A school or organization has to sign up as a test center. This is the site coordinator form that starts the whole process. http://www.nocti.org/PDFs/Forms/Testing%20Agreement.pdf

Ouch, that's quite a limitation.

At least the process is free. I don't know how a school will take it if you ask them to become a NOCTI test center just so that you can take a test. It really doesn't look much more complicated than filling out a proctor form, waiting for approval, and waiting for log in information for an online test.

Seems like the best way would be to contact them... Maybe if a few of us contact them, they'd realize there's a market out there for their courses and that might push them towards testing via ProctorU? Just a thought...

I think the forum has more collective power than it thinks it has. We have the numbers to get noticed. TEEX, TESC, and Straighterline have posted on here. Everyone who is interested in NOCTI should take part in bombarding them with emails.

I contacted the president of Nocti directly and got a very quick response. I can't copy it since there's a disclosure in the email. They have another entity called Nocti Business Solutions which works with ProctorU and is to be used for individuals outside of a testing center.
NOCTI Business Solutions The first thing that strikes me is the fee, $150 per PLA. I'm supposed to be getting another email from them soon. They want to provide information for me to place on the forum I think. If anyone has questions for me to toss to them let me know.

$150! Do you have to pay extra for the ProctorU fee? If you don't have to pay extra for the test fee, then the price isn't so bad for subjects that aren't covered by other CBEs. However, that shatters the hope of having found something cheaper.
