Cell Phone
#21
I'm 20 and my fiance is 20. My fiance would put my head on a spike if I didn't have a cell phone.

Oh, and it's linked to an almost $4,000 ad in the local phone book.

One time I thought my phone was broken and I had a mild mental collapse because I didn't think I would be able to replace it before the bussiness collapsed and my fiance killed me.

I got my first cell phone for my 16th birthday. That was almost 2 years ago.
I am currently on my 3rd cell phone. I used my first cell phone so much that the battery didn't even last 2 years. The 2nd cell phone was my mom's old one that didn't work very well and was always staticy, so about 2 months ago I got a Pantech Matrix Blue and I really like it. I'm taking good care of this cell phone. People are frequently calling me and texting me and I'm a very social person, so I always reply. The other reason I use my cell phone alot is the fact that people will call me and ask to help produce/direct/be in skits, plays or teach a class, and so I they have to keep in contact with me to make sure this and that is done right and so on. So yeah...when I'm at camps it's refreshing to get away from my cell phone for a week or a month, but otherwise I am one of those people who is always talking or listening on their cell phone...
I guess that's one factor that attributes to my choice in getting a Communications degree. Wink

Let's see...cell phone purposes:
1. alarm clock
2. Calendar appointment reminders
3. Way of contacting me via text/call
4. music player
5. Replaces my watch
6. Camera/video cam

Um, yeah.....no. It's more convenient to have one than go without.

i got the palm pre the day it came out, and i probably couldn't live without it just because i'm used to being able to do all of that stuff on my phone. i've flip phones that only called and texted and i would be able to do without those just fine, so it all depends on what kind of phone it is.

No,No,No Boost and Virgin mobile are cheaper and unlimited. I pay 50 for my wifes and 60 for mine and they include everything. Web,text and all the minutes i want. Your paying 100 a month and only get a 1000 minutes. While that might be good for you, you, always have to keep in the back of your mind that you have to get off or your minutes will go. When you think about it thats only 16 hours a month. Heck I talk a good 1 hour a day on mine.
Depending where you live you should check into these other prepaid plans and you can save and get alot more.
Hope this helps.

cframe Wrote:I will not succumb to a way of life that requires me to be instantaneously available to anyone other than my immediate family, but I love my t-mobile plan ... pay as you go. For $100 you get 1000 minutes and are a "gold member" meaning your unused minutes roll over each year if you just add even $10 before your anniversary date. Since I use it just so my kids can reach me or to phone Dominos on the way home from a long day, I've put $100 plus $10 plus $10 into it for three years of phone service and still have more minutes than I will ever use this year.

A very cheap way to go but still have the convenience if needed.

Let me clarify:

I pay $100 per YEAR (total 1000 minutes). What I don't use roles over to the next year as long as I add as little as $10 a YEAR.

Obviously, I don't live by my cell if I have 500+ minutes to spare each year!
