I tried looking for this answer (on IC and SL's website) but couldn't turn up anything. Considering taking a course or two from SL, I was curious to know if one could fail a Straighterline course? You have to get 70% to receive credit, but do you "work" to the 70% or do you have one shot? In other words, do you just keep doing it over and over till you hit 70+ or is it one shot and what you get at the exams, etc. is what you get?
I'm thinking you'd have one shot because of the periodic tests, but then thought they wouldn't mind having one keeping going through it (esp. if it's the monthly fee)...
Another question that just came to me is about how many hrs a day would someone have to devote a day to finish two SL course if they wanted to get it done in the 28 days? (the courses would be ACCT II, and Managerial ACCT if it made a difference)

I'm almost certain you can fail a straighterline course....the outcome is the product of the results on your tests and quizzes in most cases.
I didn't take either of those tests....but I know the accounting 2 has been mentioned on here quite a lot, I would do a search. I think ryoder had some comments on it.

yes you can- if you re-take the course, your two scores will be averaged. For example, if you scored a failing grade of 60 on the first try, you would have to score 80 on the retake to result in a passing score of 70.

Okay, thanks! I thought you may be able to fail, but I didn't know that exams were open book... until I read through the thread rebel100 linked to... Thanks a bunch for that! Things are a lot clearer now!

Unfortunately I can answer this from experience! I did not pass Micro the first time I took it. I had them reset it and I took it again (all the tests are totally different, of course). They averaged my two final scores and I scraped by with a 71. I was so happy to pass that I didn't care about my lousy score!

I'm glad you were able to pass with the second attempt. Did they charge you a second time to retake it?

Yes. I was on the $99/month plan and I had to pay the $39 fee again. I'm just so happy to see Micro on my TESC transcript that I don't even care!

Does anyone know if SL's exams are multiple choice, fill in the blank, or mix? (Specifically Acct I, II, Managerial Acct, Micro, Macro, and Precalc)
