For those who had taken the online course format, do we need the Access code for assignments? If not, can we just purchase a used copy instead of paying $236 for a book that has a newer edition already? Thanks y'all for the information

You don't need the access code.

Thanks for the info. Save me a lot of money! How's COS 330 so far? Are you taking it online or GS?

Guided Study.
It has what are probably the same six textbook assignments as the Online course. The six discussion forum posts are replaced with brief responses to questions.

Pretty straightforward selection of a few questions (some algebra, some truth tables, etc.) from each of the required chapters. Not every chapter in the book is covered by the class.

I was deciding between GS or online. Checking out ratemyprofessors.com and seems like the mentor from GS is kinda not very responsive to student questions.

Are you looking at the April term? That's a different mentor from the one I have now for the Guided Study.

No, I have the mentor who'll be teaching the Online course in April.
He makes a weekly announcement post with the assignments due that week and posts the occasional reminder about late penalties. He's pretty quick to answer clarifying questions posted to the public "Ask the Mentor" forum.
