Hello Everyone,
I am new to the site. I am preparing myself to try and finish school taking a lot of cleps. i hope i can do it. i really want to go to Thomas Edison and i am trying to follow their guidelines and clep so i won't have much to do when i actually apply. i have my license which will hopefully earn me more credits in my major. which brings me to my question....
when i called the testing center today at uwf, the lady told me that the english with essay only counts towards english 1 and not english 2. she said most colleges only count it for english 1. is that true? if that's the case then should i even bother taking it since i already have english 1? thanks for any advice i can get....

Hi, I just signed up today and was looking around and saw your post. I am taking the English Comp with Essay next week. I am enrolled at Thomas Edison and am almost done. I consulted two counselors on two different occasions, and they both said that Thomas Edison accepts English Comp without Essay Clep for ENC-101, and English Comp WITH essay for ENC-101 and 102, which satisfies the english comp for my degree: BSAST in Nucl Eng Tech. Does that help?

Yes that helps alot!!! Thank you for responding to me. I just think its unfair that I have to enroll in a school and pay a bunch of fees before I get some guidance. I would like to be close to done before i enroll. what did you clep and get credit for? i want to enter thomas edison's risk mgt insurance program. thanks again!! i want to take english clep w/comp and sociology first. please let me know what you clepped and how you are preparing for your english comp exam. i would definately like to keep in touch to find out how things are going with you. take care....

I've only taken Technical Writing, and passed it without studying because of my field in the Navy. For English Comp, I was using a CLEP Study book which is just one sample exam. I stumbled upon Instant Cert last week and it seems to be a very good prep for the sample exam that I have. I plan on taking English Comp with essay on Tuesday, and then MicroEcon on Friday. Then, I need one more Humanities and I have my BS. I'm thinking of taking the Spanish CLEP - 3 yrs in high school. I'll let you know how the English Comp goes...
