I just did a degree audit and found that I am lacking Biology w/ lab to graduate. My original degree plan from my school had them take my Biology credit from Microbiology that I have previously taken. Well, unfortunately, that is not the case. I need to take a general bio class with a lab (4 credits) and complete it by April.
My school doesn't accept ACE credit and if I CLEP it they will only offer me 3 credits.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I can take Bio and finish it by April or sooner? I have been searching the Web for hours looking at all the schools that offer classes online - but the majority I am finding, including my old Community College has one that ends in May. It will be too late.
Suggestions....
Thanks in advance
Suz

Charter Oak State College has BIO 130 Human Biology with Lab (4 sh) in an 8-week term from 1/22/2013 to 3/17/2013. The professor is Susan Deane, and there are still 18 seats open in that term section as of this writing. Syllabus. To see the listing, Course Search, choose term 2012-2013 Academic Year – Spring, department Biology, faculty All. (Note that Prof. Deane is also doing a 15-week version of the same course, and a second 8-week section starting in March.)
The official last day for registration for that term is January 16, though Charter Oak can sometimes work a late registration.
Tuition for a non-resident of Connecticut: 322 x 4 = 1288, and there might be a 228 College Fee for the semester, though in your circumstance, visiting for one course in a pinch and not needing any services associated with seeking Charter Oak degree, I'd ask nicely if there might be a way to reduce or waive that College Fee.
This would work if your school accepted a 4 sh general "Human" biology with lab toward your requirement. I'd confirm that with them before registering for this option. Charter Oak also lists a 4 sh Biology 1 with Lab, but that is only offered in a 15-week format.

Excelsior College offers BIO 110 Biology (Non-Lab) (3 sh) to which you can add BIO 111 Biology Laboratory (1 sh) in an 8-week term from January 7 to March 3. Syllabus 1, 2. Course Search.
So it starts this coming Monday and today is Friday! But their next start after that is in May. Tuition would be 390 x 4 = 1560. I don't know whether Excelsior would charge any additional fees for a student visiting for just one term. Excelsior is good at answering inquiries.

I guess its going to hit me in the wallet no matter what. I am also looking into Troy University as they have a Bio Class from 1/7-3/10. It looks to be a little less expensive. They have a local campus so I am going to run by there and see. Otherwise I am going to do the class at Charter Oak. I am already admitted there. Just hate to pay so much for something I feel like wasn't my error. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
Still searching to see what else is out there.

I've taken that Gen Bio w/lab course at NMJC- three years ago it cost $324. It's a good course- I liked the virtual labs. There are also discussion boards and written assignments.

I found a less expensive possibility...
https://secure.ecollege.com/iowacc/index...on=Catalog
Iowa Community College Online...
$158 a credit is much better option then having to come up with $1500 to take this Bio Class.
Thought I would pass it along as they have a ton of different classes
