Biology at TEL
#1
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had taken Biology and the lab at TEL Learning

It's a bit more expensive than Study.com, but you can go at your own pace. As someone that deeply struggles with science, I need it, lol.

Barb at UMPI said they would take the credit from a regionally accredited institution.

It seems like based on partnerships it will show up as credit from one of these colleges?

Just curious if I'm right on that and if anyone has taken it

Thanks!

Bear in mind that the TEL Learning course has TWO proctored exams and multiple assignments. If you struggle with science, that may not be for you.

With Study.com, on the other hand, you should still be able to finish it in under a month - even with difficulties. It's based on the points you get from the quizzes, the labs, and the final exam. Each of these 3 components is worth 100 points. You need 210 points to pass the class. So long as you read carefully, it's almost impossible to get less than 95 points on the quizzes. (You need to get 100% within the first 3 attempts of a given quiz.) Students who have also reported struggles with science have still been able to get at least 90 points in the labs. Let's say that you get 90 points on the quizzes and 90 points on the labs. That's 180 points. You can completely bomb the exam, only getting 31%, and you still pass!

If sciences is not your thing, I would try out Study.com for a month and only dedicate that time for learning this subject, unless you really need to take something else (I would take an easy course such as Presentation Skills or Library Science to max out the 2 exams/month). A month should be sufficient time to get the course, labs, and final exam completed.

You will need a labster subscription for $69. So, $268 total will net you 6 credits if you complete everything within the month... If you need an extra month, you can take two more "easy" courses for an extra 6 credits, you can do the labs then by extending the time... Basically, it boils down to "time management" and "retaining" information taught within the videos/text.

I think you get up to 4 months (?) to complete the labs.  So you could finish the course on Study.com, and then take additional time to complete the lab portion.  At least, that's what it was the last time I knew.
