All of this to get out of taking 1 class. It seems like it would be easier to take 1 class versus 5 classes or 5 exams. You would think so... and I agree, on its face this concept doesn't seem to make much sense. But this particular course isn't designed well in my (and not just my) opinion. I can do the equivalent work concurrently under less time pressure (and paradoxically, probably still faster). Besides that, if I get out of this one, I can take a more interesting/valuable elective in its place. If we can figure out how to make it work, a $1700 business degree sounds hashtag-worth-it to me.

Do you have tuition assistance or reimbursement from work? WGU has a BSBA and if you get enough transfer, you can probably finish in 1 term for under $4K. If you do, as per your last sentence, you may want to check out MBA offerings instead. WGU MBA or if you prefer MSML, either can be done in 1 term and at roughly $4K, they also have ACBSP programmatic/secondary accreditation if it matters to you...

These are a lot of really good options! I think what I am going to do first for my immediate need (and, to test the waters for those that come after me), is do the lowest-effort lowest-cost option first, and see if it does the job.
For me, that means taking: Intro to Management (CLEP) Intro to Marketing (CLEP) Financial Accounting (CLEP) Principles of Finance (DSST) Operations Management (UExcel, upper-level) then taking all of that credit and petitioning for my opt-out. If that doesn't work, I have a couple options -- now that I've studied ahead on the material, just take the dang course and get it over with -- take my momentum and newfound credits over to COSC or UMPI Would having a BSBA from one of these providers look favorably on me if I were to then pursue an MBA at an AACSB school? (or at least, more favorably than no business degree at all?)

I just received an email from admission regarding a second degree and he said that I'll need to take both cornerstone and capstone.

Let's wait and see about COSC, I really wonder if there is a need for the cornerstone or not... has anyone emailed them to verify? Did you go up to the director level just to be sure? Furthermore, has anyone talked to Excelsior in regards to a second Bachelors? Do you need to do the Info Lit, Cornerstone as well? I think it's just an extra capstone is all you need...

admission said I have to email the director and to "Be sure to explain the rationale for the request and how the second degree will differ from the first. Once you receive approval, please go ahead and apply."
I could email the director and ask whether the cornerstone can be waived.

I think it's just an extra capstone is all you need... Depends on if you have completed your first bachelor's degree at Excelsior. Excelsior does NOT like second bachelor's degrees. They are VERY difficult to work with on this. Been there. Done that. A second bachelor's degree will require an ADDITIONAL 30 UL credits that were completed AFTER the first degree was conferred. There is no way around this at Excelsior. A second bachelor's degree is a total pain with them. They don't want to do them.

I think it's a deal if you can skip the cornerstone, similar to completing UMPI degree in 1 session.
