My Bachelor's in IT in a UK school is going to finish in May next year.
I am looking for a CBE style master in business, leaning towards Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership (MAOL) from UMPI.
I know that most of the business masters don't require a bachelor degree in business.
However, based on the info from the forum, some of the course in Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA) would overlapp with MAOL and some credit hours could be exempted.
Therefore, I am considering if I should do BABA first and then MAOL, so I could earn an extra business bachelor without a ton of work.
I would like to ask:
- would I be exempted a lot of credit (nearly all GEd?) from BABA given that I have a Bachelor's in IT
- would doing BABA before MAOL worth it
Feel free to suggest other masters as well. Keep in mind that I live in Asia, not a US citizen, so the university has to be international-students-friendly.
Finished: University of Derby - Computing & IT Bsc Hons
In progress: OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership
Planning: MBA Top-up

You would be exempt from ALL GEC courses for a 2nd degree in anything. So you would just need to come in and do the 10 courses required at the school for residency; plus any additional courses you'd need for the BABA that you didn't already have.
But, IMHO, it would probably be a lot of unnecessary work to do the BABA and then the MAOL; you're robbing Peter to pay Paul (meaning, you're taking a bunch of extra classes for the BABA in order to take fewer classes for the MAOL). It would most likely take MORE time and money getting the BABA than you would need if you just went straight to the MAOL.
It makes no sense (to me) to do this.

Honestly if you can go straight to the MAOL, you should go straight to the MAOL. You spending the time for another BA, would mean taking 2-4 terms, which in that time, if you do 2 classes per term, you can complete 4-8, which is 25% to 75% of your degree. Then you'd have to do 75% of your MAOL after your BA just to get 25% taken off.

Thanks ashkir for the advice. You're right, I would skip the BA.

Click for ENEB MBA for $249, MA & MBA for $299.
In your signature, I see you promote ENEB's MA & MBA. The price of ENEB is just perfect.
How does the content compare to UMPI's MAOL? What about the time difference?
My final goal is to go for a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) | Doctorate Degree. The DBA seems to be quite competitive. I see many applicants having more than one master in their hand.

Great analogy. Thanks for the tip. BABA probably is not worth it for my case then. I'll just jump to pursue my master in business field.
Do you recommend other business master's degree other than MAOL?

Hi there! I do support ENEB solely for the reason it got me the graduate credits I needed in a transfer to complete the requirements and the state law of Virginia in a graduate program I was doing. ENEB is fantastic if you need credits and you want a quick degree from it. It does transfer decently well into the US. But, as an employer, it'd be a more of an your experience may vary type of thing. Unless your DBA program takes ENEB I'd say you should focus on a State University instead.
I did the MAOL and I got accepted to every single doctorate program (including one DBA) that I applied to. I had a 4.0 with UMPI.
The amount of studying/writing for the MBA and the MAOL were very similar for me. They took the same amount of time as well.
Sit down and ask yourself:
1. Does my next step, the doctorate degree accept foreign credits?
2. Does my employer only want US accredited degrees? How do they feel about equivelent foreign degrees?
3. Do I need both?
The MAOL gave me a hugely fantastic foundation. But, I will not lie, it is a lot of work. I found it to be very hard, and I did 3 classes a term. I don't recommend doing that much at once like I did. Take your time with it, don't rush, and learn the content. Looking back, I do not regret the MAOL. But during it I stressed myself out so much. The program was also new with a lot of kinks, which were mostly smoothed over now.

Some schools may accepted an ENEB master's degree after an evaluation. Some will not. Some DBA programs are VERY particular about their admissions requirements. Personally, an ENEB master's is not something worth pursuing. I just finished my MBA at Amberton University which is ACBSP accredited in addition to the university being RA.
Ashkir completed the ENEB master's in order to have enough credit for his DHA program at an NA school. So his degree is different than a DBA. I wouldn't consider an NA school for a DBA.
